Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Gutierrez
Hi Gloria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a B.S. in Sociology in 1994, then proceeded to graduate with a J.D. from Whittier Law School in 1999. I was lucky enough to never practice law! In my first job as I finished law school I worked in Business & Legal Affairs in the entertainment industry. From 1999-2009 I worked on many great releases, including The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Afte a brief break enjoying my young daughters I reentered the corporate world by joining the banking industry working on escrow agreements for Mergers & Acquisitions. I was laid off from banking last July and forced to explore career options which seemed limited. This led to finding Woofie’s! Purchased the Woofie’s franchise earlier this year and had my soft opening May 15, 2024. I grew up in Lennox, CA and now live in Hawthorne. Woofie’s of Torrance services all of the South Bay region.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are smooth roads? There are many challenges, both real and others not! Mostly there is fear of failure, but that is overcome with a lot of support from family and friends both of which I had. A more real challenge was getting financed for my “Mobile Pet Spa”. The MPS is a significant piece of the puzzle and not having one is not an option. I had to take out more from my retirement fund than I originally had wanted to, but it also means a lower monthly payment, so again, a challenge that was overcome in short order.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I went to law school and have no prior grooming experience. I’m still learning and growing as a first time business owner.
