Community Highlights: Meet Erika Williams of Serendipity Studios.LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Williams.

Erika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from Los Angeles, California. I attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I graduated with my Bachelors in Theatre Arts. After graduating, I became a production assistant for various TV shows and Movies after doing that for a couple of years. I became set costumer and worked hands on with actors and costumer designers making sure continuity takes place throughout projects. In 2017 I decided to move back to sunny California to continue my career in Hollywood. After moving back to LA, I had the opportunity to work on Insecure, Grownish, Grandcrew for many seasons. I also started to style some working professionals that wanted to revamp their wardrobe. During the process of styling and working as a set customer, I decided on a space needed for creators to create from photoshoots, intimate events, videography and fittings. This space can provide it all. I recently found a space downtown that is perfect for the needs of the creator. That’s where Serendipity Studios LA was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating Serendipity Studios LA has not been easy. There are so many things that need to take place from marketing to having the funds to make sure the Studio stays a float. I am fortunate enough to have a partner that really helps get things done when needed. Your time is being stretched thin when trying to start a business from the ground up. And you also have doubts and then think of everything that can go wrong. But that’s when I have to trust God and know everything is going to work out.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

A lot of people are not aware of that style every day working with clients that want to revamp their wardrobe. People think I only deal with celebrities but I work with everyone. Also wanted to be a professional dancer when I graduated from Highschool. I also went to Cal State Northridge for a year and studied sign language.
