Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Rainey.
Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my photography career in Las Vegas. I took photography as an elective in high school thinking that it would be an easy ‘A’. It turned out to be one of my most challenging classes. In the introductory course, we had to shoot with manual cameras. I told my aunt, and she sent me her Canon AE-1. At first, I was a little embarrassed because the camera was old, and everyone else had newer cameras.
Well, it turns out that the camera I had was vintage, and the teacher often used my camera for class demonstrations. After mastering the art of shooting in a manual, we learned how to develop our film in the dark room. This was my favorite part as it is a very delicate process. Fourteen years later, I am still thankful to have had that experience as I carry everything that I have learned with me today.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a photographer is never a smooth road. You have to be willing to take risks, open to learning new techniques, open to using new technology, and be able to think on your toes. One of my most challenging moments, as a photographer, was being hired for a wedding that took place outside and later in the evening. I wasn’t informed until the day before that the wedding was going to be outside and at night. I did some research on the venue to see what it would look like at night, and it was very dark, and not enough lighting to capture my subjects clearly. So, I went to a photography store, bought a soft light, and all turned out well. The client was happy with the photos and video of the entire day. And client satisfaction is my number one priority.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about High Quality Images (HQI)?

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My high school photography teacher, Ms. Rango. She pushed me to do my absolute best and supplied me with many tricks of the trade that have stuck with me for over a decade.
