Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebeey Chi.
Hi Sebeey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My roller Journey began on my birthday, March 18th, 2020. I found myself in the ghost town we were calling LA at the time with nothing to do and nowhere to really celebrate. The only thing I could come up with was to buy myself a pair of roller skates because it would at least give me something to do — is what I thought at the time. Little did I know I would fall in love with the art of roller skating and begin to pour timeless hours (thanks to a pandemic ironically) into my craft. In simpler terms, I merely picked up my first pair of skates and I never looked back. The rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a pretty smooth ride for me overall because it’s just so damn fun at the end of the day. Yes, I do face challenges and do get met by frustration at times trying to master certain things or to nail choreography here and there but I can honestly say I’m always having fun while doing it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a self-employed creative to sum it up in one word. At the moment, I am making my income almost solely from roller skating (which is something I never dreamed of being able to say). On the side, I also dabble with real estate and property acquisition for my Airbnb business.
What matters most to you? Why?
Really doing what you love. For me personally nothing good has come to me by doing what I was “supposed to do” or by following certain norms of life that have been layed out for all of us to follow. Where that might work for a lot of people, it simply didn’t for me. It wasn’t until I decided to submit and only follow things that actually made me happy and brought me joy that I found myself where I am today….still struggling in my own ways but overall happy and for the first time in my what seems to be very indecisive and unclear life path I can say I know where I’m headed.
