Check Out Zukhra Akhmet’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zukhra Akhmet

Hi Zukhra , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my hair&makeup school back in Kazakhstan in 2018 or 2017 I don’t even remember it was slow start with no rush because I had my main job. I started learning HMUA without knowing that it will become my future profession. But in very beginning it was just a hobby.
I changed my profession from inflight manager to HMUA after 15 years work in National Kazakhstan airline. I started from the scratch.
Different classes, But I always was in to art and beauty world. Step by step I started to work on fashion runway shows and music festivals. I wanted to learn from the best artists and until today I think the same way. Then I wanted to become bigger artist but felt my own country would not give me that opportunity and I have decided to move to LA. Why LA? Just because I love movies and I work on them too. I met here so many crazy amazing artists from all the world and continue my education. And most of the time I want learn more, I want to become bigger artist able to do more high quality stuff. I learned from international beauty judges from Oscar awarded artists I feel I am blessed. Yes, it’s not that easy but I love it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t easy, definitely not. I felt my self like new born bird who could not fly. I am a bird but can’t fly. In LA I started to work in hair salon like many hairstylists does but then covid happened and I lost my job and once everything slowly started to go back to normal life I struggle a lot with finding clients, nobody wanted my services but I didn’t gave up I worked a lot for free on shoots just to show my skills to people and there is where I slowly started to climb up. At the same time I did another job just to cover my rent etc. I invested a lot of money on products for work I needed that to provide more skills as an artist. It took me 3 years of non stop working and working and a many of them was for free or with super low budget.
The only thing that kept me to do that is believe and understanding that it’s how it’s works. To get the Pearl you need to dive deep down.

And I wanted to become that Pearl.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would say that I proud to be a finalist of international hairstylist competition one shot award I got top 25 on editorial hairstyle from 300.000 submission.

Last year I also made some beautiful hairstyles for the competition but none of them was recognized but I am very proud of my self because that works was beyond of my professional skills but did it anyway and it come up really beautifully to me. So I proud of my self that I did it something that above me and it made me grow in my eyes. I was happy.
