Hi Yana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Yana, and photography has been my creative language for over seven years. After moving to the United States, I found a new way to tell stories — this time through images instead of words. With a background in journalism from one of Moscow’s top universities and experience in national television, storytelling has always been at the heart of my work.
Becoming a mother reshaped my life and my career. Photography gave me the freedom to grow creatively while being fully present for my children — allowing me to build a career that reflects both my professional passion and my personal values.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been helping people truly understand who I am as a professional and what I offer. Even when you pour your heart into your work, being seen — especially in a competitive creative market — can be one of the hardest parts.
I’ve had clients tell me how excited they were to discover that I’m based in Santa Clarita — some even shared that they were prepared to drive all the way to Long Beach for a maternity session before realizing I was right here. Those moments are both encouraging and eye-opening. They remind me that sometimes it’s not about the quality of the work, but about visibility and connection within your local community.
These challenges have pushed me to grow not only as an artist, but also as a business owner — to become more confident in sharing my story, my values, and the heart behind my work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in kids’ modeling portfolio shoots, professional headshots, and dance and performance photography. My work focuses on capturing each child’s unique personality, confidence, and movement, creating images that are both authentic and compelling.

I have extensive experience working with local and major talent agencies, as well as modeling brands, helping young talent build portfolios that open doors to exciting opportunities. I guide families through every step — from posing and expressions to understanding what casting directors are looking for — ensuring each child shines on camera.

As the official photographer for Santa Clarita Ballet Company and a former professional dancer, I bring a deep understanding of timing, lines, and emotion to dance photography. This allows me to capture performances in a way that shows not just how they look, but how they feel.

I studied photography at Santa Monica College and have continued to refine my skills through workshops and masterclasses with renowned photographers, strengthening both my technical expertise and artistic vision.
