Check Out Steffon Palmer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steffon Palmer.

Steffon Palmer

Hi Steffon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
All of my life, I’ve always been an “outcast” or someone who just never fit in with other groups in my schools. I was badly bullied growing up for being black. Queer, alternative, and with ADHD. I felt like there was so many reasons why I had to try harder than everyone else and even had to try even harder to madder to people. I really found a love for horror, Tim Burton. and spooky stuff because of the deep message that it shares. People with disabilities and traumas and people have been made fun of and abandoned and or misunderstood or treated poorly are usually the focus points in those movies, so I was really able to relate. I found confidence in myself through those movies, and now it’s a HUGE part of my life. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be an artist of some sort, but I didn’t know what. I tried Painting and Cartoons. Makeup and Fashion. Singing. Dancing. Acting. Even tried learning instruments. I loved musical theater and had a big passion after being in my first one High School Musical the musical. I knew Dancing, Singing, and Acting were for me. So, I joined the dance classes at my school and progressed. I knew I didn’t want to go to college, so I moved to LA right after High School, and that’s where everything began. Commercials. Musicals. Cruises. Club Performing. Music Videos and meeting so many like-minded artists with the thirst that I also have kept me inspired; since then, I’ve started modeling professionally as well as walking in LA Fashion Week and Kornit Fashion Week. Modeling even FIDM for many designers. I’ve been in magazines and online stores. Been on billboards and websites. I never thought the kid that was bullied for being “ugly,” “weird,” “too black,” “too white-washed,” “gap-toothed,” “stupid,” “never to be successful,” “never to even make it out of high school” would be seen by millions performing and being the face of ads and having a following of over a million across all of my social media platforms. All I can do is thank the universe forever, be grateful, and give back as much as I can.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being bullied. Being diagnosed with ADHD since I was in 1st Grade. I was bullied verbally and physically at school. I’ve been slapped. Jumped. Chased. People talked about my appearance of me being physically “too black” and even “too white”. Being queer was definitely a big factor. I had little to no friends at some points… other than that, I always struggled getting along with my family. Ofc, they had their thoughts on who I should be and how my future should look but I’ve always been very forward with me choosing my own directions. I knew I was destined for greatness I just didn’t know how.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a dancer, actor, singer. But I do model and social media influence as well. I’ve been singing since middle school. Dancing since high school. Acting since high school and modeling since graduating high school. If someone were to ask me, though, I would say imma a dancer and model because those are my main jobs. I’m known for the celebrities I’ve worked for. Such as Doja Cat. Swae Lee. French Montana. Alicia Keys. Todrick Hall. Skrillex. Doechii and more. I’m also knows for modeling and doing commercial like LOL omg Dolls and Sephora. But the main way people know me is through social media. I have 1.1 million followers on TikTok and 56k on IG. I’ve been able to create a fan base with like-minded people. Mostly, people who are performers. Or people in the queer community and or alternative (rock, grungy, and spooky/horror) community.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing people wouldn’t expect out of me is that one of my goals for my future is to come out with a one-day music tour and be a rockstar. As much as I love dancing and modeling, music, in general, is my passion, and I want to be able to change the world with it. I know I have a story to tell, and I’m ready to do so.
