Check Out Seo Ibarra’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seo Ibarra

Hi Seo , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Seo Ibarra 35 yo Male
Born and Raised in Nogales Sonora Mexico, I always aspired to be an artist.

Growing up in Mexico was hard, because of the area we lived in but I can’t say that it wasn’t a lot of fun too, Since young I hung around Artist like myself or guys who had similar interests. Being that I was middle class and at times even felt poverty or lack of income I would find my own ways to make money at school selling candy and telling jokes.
This is how i discovered my talent. Drawing a picture for one of my friends.
I was shocked at the fact that I could draw, ever since then I’ve never stoped.

Later in life my parents decided that they wanted a better quality life for me, they knew I was not a “normal” kid being that I am a trans man and proud! so they packed up our house in one suite case and never turned back.

This is how I landed in LA.
Looking for a better quality of life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been easy.

Being that I was Assigned female at birth and now living my life as a trans man.

I work at a tattoo shop for the tattoo industry. Do you really think they’re going to make it easy for someone with those characteristics? Hahaha

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in black and grey realism and Asian art tattoos.

I’m also known for my micro single needle tattoos and my line work.
I’ve been lucky enough to be around traditional tattooers and new generation tattoo artist.

The thing I’m most proud of is my resilience, and my ability to stay alive and continue tattooing despite the constant pressure and bad attention I receive just from being trans.

That, the fact that I’m a Trans man and my ideas. My creations are a mixture of freehand work, stencil and random ink to skin moments. My mind goes off.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To keep focus. And respect those who deserve it.
To draw a lot even if you think you’re great, there’s always someone bigger, better and badder.
