Check Out Rick Williamson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Williamson.

Hi Rick, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Drove out to Los Angeles in my Triumph sports car from Florida with all my belongings and my surf board with dreams of making it in Hollywood. I was fortunate to be cast as an actor in one of the longest running plays, “Bleacher Bums” at the Century City Playhouse, which led to other plays and my first job in television, “V The Final Battle”, where as a stoned alien, I ate a mouse. I continued to work on stage and TV until I was talked into auditioning for “The Wild West Stunt Show” at the Universal Studios Theme Park, here in Hollywood. I didn’t know the first thing about stunts…but they cast me and I was trained to fall off buildings, which was horribly exciting! That opened another delightfully terrifying door in my life…being a stunt performer! I then joined the cast of the “Waterworld Stunt Show”, and I continued working in film and TV until a group of us actor/stuntmen put together our own film that I wrote and directed. A first for me! And thus another door in the creative world was revealed: writing and directing. And that’s the channel that I’m currently tuned into. My first film, “A Short Film” screened DTLA and all over the world. That was so much fun that I decided I wanted to create a TV series, so I wrote and directed “Combat Nuns” about a tough group of women that have been appointed by the church to clean up the world from evil and corruption. I just finished writing and directing my first animated short film, “The Escort” which screened at the LA Live Regal Theatre. I am truly grateful for creating the life I want!

I have realized that life is too short to say no

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life has not always been a yellow brick road, but I didn’t expect it to be. If it wasn’t for the challenges, the disappointments, the failures and the heart breaks, I wouldn’t be the person that I am.

One thing that I have earned is the faith and belief in myself, that my dreams are worthy to be fulfilled.

You’ve got to believe in yourself, because you are all you have, and every moment is a blessing

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I choose to be creative.

There is a special feeling I get when I’m in a theatre full of people that are enjoying a movie that I created

In my spare time I enjoy my British sports cars from the 1960’s

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
You create your own luck. The more you surround yourself with positive creative people, the more your luck will flourish
