Today we’d like to introduce you to Ravi Roth.
Hi Ravi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved to the Big Apple to star on Broadway. After a few shows in NYC and a couple of Broadway tours, I fell into the zany world of being a Queer Travel Content Creator. My passion is capturing other people’s stories and highlighting them on social media. I have three Queer Travel Adventure series that I host: ‘Gaycation Travel Show’, ’24 Hour GAYover’, and ‘Ravi’s Road To Pride.’
My mission is simple: to uplift marginalized voices through social media and to spread Queer Joy across the globe.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The world of Broadway is super cutthroat and I would have to work 5-6 survival jobs to keep afloat and continue auditioning. Being a Queer Travel Content Creator has had its challenges, but most of them for me have been internal. I often have fallen into the trap of compare and despair.
But here I am today with 27,000 followers and it is my full-time job. I have navigated an incredibly challenging industry and am soaring because I am intentional, niche, and super specific on how I present myself to the world.
I have learned that my WHY as a business is the most crucial. WHY me? WHY now? WHO cares? Once I mastered those answers, it was smooth sailing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create content for social media focussing on LGBTQ+ travel. I have been to 40 countries, have won numerous accolades, and have partnered with some of the most elite brands in the world. What sets me apart from others in this space is that I don’t make everything about me. I focus on each destination- and the people in it. Humanity is always at the forefront, and challenging ourselves how we can each live out loud is the ultimate goal.
I am most proud of a docuseries road trip I did this summer with Hyundai. I drove 7.000 miles across the country, visiting Queer Destinations Undiscovered to learn how we are different but more importantly, how we are all the same. I learned we all want to be seen, visible, heard and to live in a world where we can be Queer without Fear.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Everything I do in life has been a risk. Going to Boston Conservatory for Musical Theatre was a risk, striving to be a full-time actor was a risk, letting go of all of my survival jobs was a risk, SLAYING the world of social media was a risk.
I am not one to settle for a 9-5. I would rather dream and do all day long than not dream at all.
Taking a leap to be a full-time content creator was the riskiest move I have ever made, but it has been the most rewarding. This year alone, I have been on five continents living out my wildest dreams.
