Today we’d like to introduce you to Pranysqa Mishra.
Pranysqa , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Music has always been more than just a passion for me. It has been a part of who I am since I was little. I started singing at the age of two and taught myself to play the piano by ear when I was three. I never imagined that something I loved so much would one day take me to some of the biggest stages in the world. What started as a little girl singing her heart out has grown into an incredible journey filled with opportunities, unforgettable experiences, and dreams that keep getting bigger. Looking back, I’m so grateful for how far I’ve come, but I also know that **I still have a long way to go, so much more to learn, and many more dreams to chase.** For me, this is only the beginning.
One of my earliest unforgettable moments was performing the National Anthem at the opening night of the US Open in 2023, where I made history as the first child to do so. Standing in front of thousands of people at such an iconic event was something I will never forget.
My life changed in an incredible way when I auditioned for Season 19 of America’s Got Talent. Receiving Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer was a moment I still have trouble putting into words. I remember feeling so overwhelmed with happiness, and suddenly people from all around the world were discovering my voice. That experience opened so many doors and gave me the confidence to dream even bigger.
Since then, my musical journey has taken me beyond borders, giving me opportunities to perform internationally and connect with audiences from different cultures. From American pop and soul to Bollywood music, I’ve always loved exploring different styles and languages. I’ve had the privilege of performing at Bollywood concerts and cultural events and sharing stages with celebrated Indian singers, including Kumar Sanu, while also performing at prestigious venues such as MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Another unforgettable moment was having the incredible honor of performing at an exclusive event for Mrs. Nita Mukesh Ambani. As a young artist of Indian heritage, it was especially meaningful to celebrate my roots through music. I’ve also been fortunate to perform at an event alongside Jennifer Hudson, an artist I’ve admired for years, and before audiences that included internationally recognized personalities such as Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake, and Adrien Brody.
It’s amazing to see how music has connected me with people around the world. Being recognized as a young global artist and having my performances reach audiences across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, and beyond is something I’m incredibly grateful for. My Indian heritage is a huge part of who I am, and I love being able to bring together Western and Indian musical influences in my performances.
I’ve also been honored as a Whitney Houston Legacy of Vocal awardee and received the 2025 Global Child Prodigy Award at the UK Parliament. These moments mean so much to me because Whitney Houston has always been one of my biggest inspirations.
One of the most exciting milestones in my musical journey has been officially signing a worldwide music distribution agreement with **Jive Records, Sony Music**. It feels like a dream come true and marks a whole new chapter for me as a singer and songwriter. On November 25, 2026, I’ll be releasing my original EP, *The Color of Maybe*, through this distribution partnership.
Every song on the EP represents a different emotion, experience, or feeling that comes with growing up, figuring yourself out, and discovering your own voice. I’ve written and sung these songs from my heart, and after years of performing songs by artists I’ve always admired, I’m incredibly excited to finally introduce the world to my own original music.
I’m only 12, and I know my journey is still in its early chapters. There is so much more I want to learn, create, and accomplish. I’m thankful for every opportunity and every person who has believed in me along the way. I hope to keep growing, reaching new audiences, and inspiring other young people to believe that their dreams are possible, no matter how big they may seem.
I have come a long way, but I know I have a much longer way to go, and that’s what makes this journey so exciting!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say my journey has been a smooth road, but honestly, it has been anything but easy. People often see the big stages, awards, and exciting moments, but what they don’t always see are the struggles, rejections, disappointments, and tears behind them. There have been more downs than ups, but every experience has helped me grow stronger.
One of the most difficult challenges I’ve faced is discrimination because of my skin color and Indian heritage. There have been moments when I felt judged for how I looked rather than for my voice and talent. As a young girl, that can be really painful, especially when music is supposed to bring people together, regardless of where they come from or what they look like.
I’ve learned that hard work and talent don’t always guarantee opportunities. Sometimes doors close despite giving your absolute best, and it’s easy to feel discouraged. But my dad always reminds me, “You may fall a thousand times, but what matters is getting up a thousand and one times and finding the courage to fight back.”
My family is my greatest strength, especially my dad, who is my mentor, my best friend, my biggest critic, and my strongest source of moral support. He celebrates my achievements but also reminds me to stay grounded and keep improving. He has believed in me even when I doubted myself. If I am where I am today, so much of the credit belongs to him. My mom and the rest of my family have also been my constant support, standing beside me through every high and low.
What keeps me going is knowing that, despite the negativity, there are wonderful people who believe in me, encourage me, and appreciate my music without judging my background or appearance. Their kindness reminds me that there is always more good in the world than we sometimes realize.
One of my biggest dreams is to stand proudly on the world’s biggest stages as a young Southeast Asian dispora Global artist and inspire other children to pursue their dreams fearlessly. I want every little girl who has ever felt different or overlooked to know that she belongs there too. I dream of a world where the color of your skin doesn’t determine your opportunities and where your talent, dedication, and passion are what truly matter.
I’m only 12, and I know I still have a long way to go. There will be more challenges, more lessons, and probably more failures along the way. But I don’t want my story to be defined by the obstacles I’ve faced. I want it to be about how I overcame them, the people who stood beside me, and the dreams I never stopped believing in.
And if my journey can inspire even one child to believe that their dreams are bigger than the barriers in front of them, then every struggle will have been worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a pop singer, songwriter, and live performer, and I think the best way to describe my musical style is powerful, expressive, and full of energy. Although pop is where I see myself as an artist, I love bringing elements of rock, soul, and R&B into my performances. I enjoy music that allows me to explore different sides of my voice, from emotional, soulful singing to big, powerful vocals that can fill an entire arena.
One of the things I love most about singing is being able to change the mood and energy of a performance through my voice. I love songs with strong vocal arrangements, dramatic builds, powerful belts, and those exciting high notes that make an audience react. But I also believe that knowing when to sing softly is just as important as knowing when to sing powerfully. Sometimes one quiet line can communicate more emotion than the biggest note in a song.
Rock performances bring out a completely different side of me. I love the excitement of performing with an electric guitar, the intensity of live instrumentation, and the freedom to move around the stage and interact with the crowd. There’s something incredible about hearing an audience cheer, clap, and sing along. I don’t want people to simply listen to my performances. I want them to experience them.
Vocally, I enjoy challenging myself with different techniques, especially vocal runs, riffs, dynamic changes, and powerful sustained notes. I’m inspired by legendary vocalists like Whitney Houston and contemporary pop artists who combine strong vocal abilities with their own unique personalities. I admire artists who can deliver an incredible vocal performance while also commanding the stage.
I think one of my biggest strengths is my versatility. I can perform a soulful ballad, switch to an energetic pop anthem, bring a rock edge to a familiar song, or perform Bollywood music. I love experimenting with different genres while keeping my own personality in everything I sing. I never want to be an artist who sounds exactly the same in every song.
Songwriting has become another important part of my musical journey. Performing other artists’ music has taught me so much, but writing my own songs gives me a different kind of creative freedom. Instead of just interpreting someone else’s story, I get to tell my own.
My upcoming EP, *The Color of Maybe*, releasing November 25, 2026, represents that creative direction. Following my worldwide distribution agreement with Jive Records, Sony Music, I’m excited to introduce my original music to a wider audience. The project explores different emotions and experiences through contemporary pop music, with each track revealing another side of my personality and creativity.
What sets me apart is the combination of my vocal power, my love for energetic performances, and my willingness to explore different musical styles. I’m not afraid to experiment, take creative risks, or push myself beyond my comfort zone.
Ultimately, I want to build my identity as a pop artist who is equally passionate about singing, songwriting, and performing. I want to create original songs that people connect with and deliver live performances that leave them excited, emotional, and wanting to hear more.
My goal isn’t just to sing a great song. It’s to make people remember how they felt when they heard me sing it
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the music industry is going to change tremendously over the next five to ten years, and honestly, I’m excited to grow up as an artist during such an interesting time.
One of the biggest changes I see is how artists connect with their audiences. Social media and streaming platforms have already made it possible for someone to share their music from their bedroom and reach millions of people around the world. I think this will continue to create opportunities for young and independent artists who may not have had access to the traditional music industry. Talent can now be discovered from almost anywhere, and I think that’s amazing.
At the same time, I believe the industry is becoming more competitive. With so much music being released every day, it’s no longer just about having a good voice or a catchy song. Artists need to develop their own identity, create meaningful music, and build a genuine connection with their listeners.
Another major change will be artificial intelligence. Technology is advancing so quickly that it can already help create music in ways we couldn’t have imagined a few years ago. I think technology can be an incredible creative tool, but I also believe we need to protect the value of human artistry. For me, music is about real emotions, personal experiences, imagination, and the connection between an artist and an audience. Technology can help us create, but I hope it never replaces the heart behind the music.
I also believe live performances will become even more important. With so much content available online, there’s something truly special about watching an artist perform in person. The energy of a live band, the excitement of the audience, and those unexpected moments on stage create memories that can’t be recreated through a screen.
I hope the future music industry also becomes more inclusive, giving talented artists opportunities regardless of their age, background, appearance, or where they come from. I would love to see a world where originality, dedication, and genuine talent matter more than numbers, trends, or popularity.
As someone who is still at the beginning of her musical journey, I’m excited to see what the future holds. I know music will continue to evolve, and I want to evolve with it while staying true to myself.
Trends will come and go, technology will keep changing, but I believe one thing will always remain the same: great music will find its way into people’s hearts.
