Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Anders.
Hi Patricia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2004 I got my first computer, I taught myself how to use it and in doing so I discovered online art groups, communities and like minded people. These communications encouraged me to find venues, I started with eBay and Etsy, fairs and gallery shows to submit to.
Being an artist is a rocky road no sugar coating it but I remain committed and get up every day with the purpose of creation and will never retire.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If I had to make a living selling my art I would have starved but my husband supports my efforts and I continuously work at my development and do all I can to be the best artist I can be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m primarily a painter, it’s what I always go back to. I also love assemblage and art doll making. I’m proud of my altered art dolls where I use methods I discovered from trial and error. They remain unique from the methods and efforts of other artists.
My subject matter emerges from my imagination, unfolds organically and guided by a desire to invite contemplation or stir emotions.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk taking is absolutely necessary for growth. No risk, no break through. Avoiding risk may create technically fine work, but embracing risks has a chance to create something unforgettable.
Risk is courage, challenging norms, uncomfortable subjects drives social and cultural change.
Failure is part of risk, so no growth if one doesn’t take a fearless chance. Experimenting and pushing boundaries can lead to unexpected discoveries.
