Check Out Oscar De Colombia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar De Colombia

Hi Oscar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My musical beginnings were since high school, I joined a Latin American music group where I played bass drum and sang, after I graduated from high school I joined several tropical music orchestras in my hometown of Medellin, I studied vocal technique to improve my singing and this was the way to make me known in the musical environment and was worth being called to casting by international orchestras such as Fruko y sus Tesos, The Latin Brothers, Grupo Caneo among others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been an easy road, but it has been very satisfying.

It is not easy because you have to spend almost your full time to make music and that means you are far away from your loved ones, your city, your country, your customs.

Sometimes also, you can find that, there is a lot of competition and in some cases it is very unfair.
But it is very satisfying to see people singing and dancing to your songs, that is very comforting and makes you very happy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My two most recent musical works are called: Yo ya no vuelvo contigo” and “Mis cenizas” two songs recorded in the salsa genre. These became a dream come true, because after more than 10 years without recording, I was able to do it.

This happened because after having settled in the USA, I dedicated myself to my work as an Electrician, but over time I got to know people and places that allowed me to continue on the path of music where I have seen my dream of being a recognized singer grow.

I feel very proud of myself, because in addition to being a singer, I try to be a good husband, father, friend and professional in my work field, which makes me feel very proud of myself.

I always try to be a good, helpful and happy human being. I think that makes me different from others.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is singing because I express with my voice many things that are sometimes difficult to talk about.

It makes me happy to spend quality time with my 2 children. I try to be a good father from a distance because they are in Colombia, but we talk every day and when they express their love to me, they make me the happiest father in the world.

Sharing time with my wife every day also makes me happy. She is the one who makes me see with love the not so good things that I sometimes express as a human being.

My family makes me happy. They are my strength to keep fighting every day.
