Today we’d like to introduce you to Jug.
Hi Jug, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was always surrounded by music because of my older brother. It always gave me an understanding of my own feelings when I wasn’t able to put it into words. I started to get into music production when I was 18. I used to listen to a lot of R&B, Hip-hop, and Trap: more specifically Majid Jordan, Travis Scott and Kanye West were the reasons why I got into making music. I was like “This all sounds so crazy. How do they capture such specific feelings?”
I was really only making music as a journal and an escape: to this day it’s still true. Nowadays, I have stronger feelings for music and I will die on this hill pursuing this passion no matter how far I go. I’ve always wanted someone to connect with and my music to reach somebody.
That’s where a newfound love for music and what got me to where I am. Music is suppose to bring the community together and bring emotions out. I have the most fun working with friends and cherish those moments the most. I’ve made so many new connections and have been pushed through so many limits because of these people. Without them, I would still be cooped up in my room just making music for myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’m a naturally introverted person so showing my music to people and working with people came with a lot of insecurities. I had to really step up and force myself to become the person I wanted to be.
No one shows the depressing parts of pursuing a dream as well. The lonely and sleepless nights, pushing yourself when no one would, the ego vs reality, and the list can go on.
I feel like no matter what every passion comes with similar struggles but seeing your creation become whole is the most fulfilling feeling I’ve ever experienced; it makes me feel truly alive.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make experimental electronic and alternative music. I produce, mix, master and do all my vocals. I’d say I’m known for being pretty rowdy and energetic when comes down to it. My shows will always have you moving whether it be physically or emotionally. I’m the most proud of myself. All of my music is a reflection of me and the emotions I have encapsulated at the time. I’ve had so many people tell me they’ve felt something from my music or I’ve really inspired them to go and pursue something. It’s so much love and that feeling alone is indescribable.
What sets me apart from others is that I’m me, just like you are you and no one else can do that. But through my music, and just me in general, I’m very emotional and pretty sensitive to be honest. I love to show how angry I am, how much I want to tear down the walls and at the same time I love to show how much I cry and think about throwing everything away. I want to be the person you can be careless with and be yourself. I want to be the person you can lean on and have a shoulder to cry on. I want to be that person.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Everything will be okay. 🙂
