Check Out Jess Best’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Best.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember , and when I was 13, my voice teacher encouraged me to start writing music. While I’ve always loved singing and performing music, I am the most at home in the creative process. Whether it’s working on my own artist project or in supporting other artists, searching for something to contribute to the musical conversation that has come before me is truly what drives me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a dear friend of mine said to me, oftentimes in life the things we want do end up happening for us, it’s just that they unfold in a way that we didn’t expect. My path in music has been both smooth and jagged – that’s what’s so beautiful about it for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist/songwriter. I mainly spend my time in LA writing songs with other artists. You can also find me performing my own music, once in a blue moon 💕

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The process is where it’s at. As artists, it’s so enticing to constantly be looking to the future because that’s what drives you – looking at the ways you want to keep growing and getting inspired, the goals you have with your career, thinking about what you’ll make. It’s addictive. And that feeling is so important because the moment you are satisfied with everything you’ve made and where you’re at…it’s likely you will stop making things. So, I’m trying my best to accept being in motion, that being in-process is a form of arrival.
