Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Jones
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got into music because my family was a musical family. Everybody in my family could sing a play something. Born and raised in the church my mother nurtured Me and my brother’s vocal ability.
I started writing my own songs in high school. And soon after I graduated and went to college, I joined Fellowship Mission Baptist Church (Now known as Fellowship Chicago). There is where I truly started my background Vocalist journey being on the Praise team. The minister of music at that time was Anita Wilson (Who is mentored by Donald Lawrence, As well as being a part of Donald Lawrence and Company).
Anita Wilson taught me so much about the art of background singing. She also gave me my first to be a lead solo on a billboard charting Gospel Ablum. So after I started doing tour dates with Pastor Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago as well as other recordings under them as well.
Following the release of My debut project “Conversations” in 2017, I was one of the winners of the Rico Love’s We Love Conference Songwriting Contest At his second annual “We Love Music Conference. Soon after the contest, Rico Love became a valued mentor within a short period of time who taught me how to truly find inspiration for songwriting in anything and everything around you.
Then in 2018, I was handpicked by Rance Dopson and James Fauntleroy to one of the scholarship recipients of the 1500 Sound Academy, where I furthered his knowledge of vocal production and songwriting.
After finishing the program, I recorded and toured with Kanye West and The Sunday Service Collective as well as assisting in special performances and studio sessions with artists like Alicia Keys, Davido, and Yolanda Adams.
Now I am furthering my artistry with releasing my own music as well as providing music for Film/TV networks such as Paramount Films, VH1, Bounce TV, USA Network and many more.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is definitely not been a smooth ride. I had to really deal with a lot of impostor syndrome. With each incredible situation that I was a part of, there was always a little voice in the back of my head, still telling me that I would never measure up.
I remember when I was growing up as well I always felt like the little man on The totem pole because I had a slight learning disability. From kindergarten to 12 grade always was in different classrooms because I was considered special ed (Slow).
Every day is always a fight, but I am determined to be great and everything that I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Writing music is what I love to do. I’m always inspired by some of my favorite writers which I was able to work with such as James Fauntleroy, Rico Love, and Kanye West.
Storytelling is what I love to do. The model that I have for the type of music I make goes as follows… “ I make every day music for everyday people”! When people listen to my music, I want them to be able to see themselves in every lyric that I write. And I believe I do so.
What set me apart from others is my willingness to keep going. I believe consistency is my superpower. Even when I’m frustrated and feeling like I’m ready to give up, I will myself to find a way to make it to the next level.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I will be releasing more music and performing live more consistently. Possibly training up other young artists to get to the next level. I see myself doing more music for film and television. As well as possibly acting.
