Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Harris Refuerzo.
Hi Hope , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been surrounded by creativity my whole life. I was raised in a musical/artistic home and shaped by my experiences growing up in the New Mexico Film Industry. I started my career in casting for major TV networks, where I was thrust into learning the true responsibility of storytelling and discovered my calling as a filmmaker.
Now, as an Afro-Latina creative and the founder of TillSow, a fully integrated creative services company based in Los Angeles, I’m focused on creating meaningful work that contributes to culture and helps shape the future. I do my best to carry the legacy of my ancestors, to amplify diverse perspectives, and to tell stories that awaken, heal, and transform.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As smooth as it could be. The exposure I had to the world of production, in what would be considered a “small town,” was rare. I’m deeply appreciative of those moments because they instilled in me the gravitas of hard work that comes along with creating something through fruition. Coming from that experience, and the structured educational space of Spelman College, where my focus was in film, to then having to start again from scratch in Los Angeles with extremely slim resources was an immense undertaking. Adapting to a new, fast, large city was challenging in itself. Building a trusted community, creating a livelihood, exploring different sides of creativity.. All of those things while trying to survive. That’s the plight of anyone moving to a large mecca on their own. If you’re lucky, you can stay here long enough to find some footing and build. I’ve been fortunate enough to do that, by the grace of God. But I’ve had to learn a lot. Learn both sides of the camera and the business, both in entertainment and advertising. I will forever be a student. I have to be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an entrepreneur, I’m driven by legacy—by the desire to build something that lasts and means something. That’s why we founded TillSow—a creative services company designed for what’s next. We’re not just reacting to where culture is headed; we’re helping shape it.
Our work lives at the intersection of intention and innovation. We believe ideas should be smarter, more thoughtfully made, and more aware of their environments—whether that’s a screen, a space, or a moment in someone’s life.
Our vision is rooted in disruption and expansion. While we collaborate with incredible clients, we’re also focused on developing original IP and stories that contribute to culture in lasting ways. At the heart of it, we’re here to make meaningful work that inspires, transforms, and stands the test of time.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources that help you do your best in life?
Firstly, I will say the Bible. It’s amazing how, the older I get and the more experiences I have, the universal truths that can be found in biblical texts resonate so deeply and in new ways.
As an entrepreneur, I consistently refer to the experiences, lessons, and routines shared in titles like Chad Sanders’ Black Magic and Tim Ferris’s Tools of Titans or Tribe of Mentors.
As a new mother to a rising toddler, I’ve been reading How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber and Julie King. It’s helpful to know you’re not alone in this journey of motherhood, and to gain new tools and ways to approach parenting in a more conscious way.
I recently got recommended The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. It’s been a great reminder to .. “Let Them.”
