Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Valenti.
Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in New Jersey, which I’m very proud to say! I love going back to New Jersey and visiting. There, my family enrolled me in musical theatre and dance classes, and I really fell in love with the stage and storytelling. I went on to get a BFA in Acting from Boston University, and studied “abroad” in Los Angeles, taking tv and film classes, and interning at a casting office where I currently work. Since moving out here about 8 years ago, I’ve continued to love acting, and fell in love with casting and producing. Recently, I’ve started a production company and want to continue to produce, cast, and act as often as possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think within the entertainment industry, along with other professions, there’s a lot of rejection. So, of course, that’s always hard when something doesn’t work out in your favor. But, those are the experiences that have helped me grow and learn and become who I am today. I also think creating is a lot about finding your voice, and I’m starting to really figure out what I do and don’t like. That’s ever evolving, though.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a producer, actor, and casting director; I love comedy. I really like getting to laugh a lot throughout my day, whether it’s watching self-tapes or being on set or working with a scene partner. I’m really proud of the work that I do and being able to provide honest feedback on projects. I’m definitely proud of a short I co-wrote with my friend Daniel Rashid that I also produced and acted in; it’s called Puppy Love and it won several awards on the festival circuit, and made it Oscar qualifying. Another project I produced, The Music Store, is going to be Oscar qualifying for 2027 as well, and I just got back from SXSW recently with a short I produced (and cast and had a small cameo in!). I’m proud of my organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple positions on projects at a time, as well as my work/life balance. That’s something that I’ve struggled with in the past, and I feel like I’m starting to get a handle on it better.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Oooh. Great question! I feel like I’m a pretty open book, so I do feel like a lot of people who know me well know this: I love reality tv. I am obsessed with competition shows, and I’m convinced that I could win at least one of them, if not more. My summers are dedicated to watching Big Brother and the live feeds, and I’m immediately hooked on whatever new show Netflix drops about finding the one. I think reality shows, whatever the premise, are some of the best television there is.
