Check Out Dominique Pruitt’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Pruitt.

Hi Dominique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Winemaking came into my life at a time when I needed something to care for.

After my mom passed away during my teenage years, a lot of the creative energy I once had seemed to disappear. I felt disconnected from the things that used to bring me joy. I needed something that could ground me again and would require patience, attention, and a sense of purpose.

That’s when wine found me.

I’ve always loved science and creating things with my hands. The process of fermentation, the transformation of simple ingredients into something complex and alive, fascinated me. Winemaking quickly became the perfect intersection of my interests: science, creativity, experimentation, and control over the final product. It gave me a way to explore, learn, and build something meaningful from the ground up.

I started posting my winemaking tutorials to TikTok in December 2024, really for myself, so that I could remember all of the steps that I was doing. Since then, I’ve built a community of 15K+ people who I have been able to connect with by simply documenting the successes and challenges of my winemaking journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The funniest thing about my winemaking/ content creation journey is that the winemaking science part is the easiest for me and most of my struggles come from creating the content around it.

My biggest challenge is finding time to film. During the early fermentation stages of winemaking, you have to tend to the wine on very specific days to ensure it’s fermenting properly. On top of that, I work full time, so some days I’m rushing home to make sure I can care for the wine at the right moment while also filming that stage. It’s a constant balancing act between making sure the wine is progressing properly and capturing the process on camera.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make homemade wine, specializing in country wines, and I’m known for documenting my journey while teaching others how to make wine in a fun and refreshing way. I often blend my tutorials with popular songs and dances to capture the attention of viewers who might not otherwise engage with winemaking, highlighting its creative and enjoyable side. My goal is to connect with younger generations (21+ ofc) and show that winemaking can be accessible and it doesn’t have to be this unattainable thing for like rich people.

What sets me apart is how I share the full reality of the process. I don’t just highlight the successes, I also showcase the challenges and failures along the way, from batches that turn out great to ones that have literally exploded out the bottle, and I explain what I’ve learned from those experiences. I’m most proud of my willingness to be vulnerable and document my growth over time. Being able to look back and see that progress has been incredibly rewarding, and even more so knowing it has inspired members of my community to start making their own wine. I’m also super proud of the beginner friendly ebook I wrote that provides a step – by – step guide to anyone interested in making wine or just curious about the process!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Patience, patience, patience! Winemaking takes you from the excitement of checking on your batch every day and tasting its progress to letting it sit and age for months. It’s taught me that good things truly take time. When you have a goal, the beauty and success of it often comes from that long, quiet refining process when things feel stagnant, but something great is still developing beneath the surface. Winemaking is a lot like life in that way because it’s taught me how to let go, trust the process, and have faith in what’s taking shape even when I can’t see the progress right away.
