Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane de Mesa.
Diane, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a singer-songwriter from Bay Area, California. I have always loved to sing ever since I can’t remember. I have been a performer, band vocalist, and composer. In 2005, I had to postpone music and performing to pursue my degree in Nursing, but music will always be my first love. So after I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, I became a Registered Nurse taking care of Mothers and their Newborns. On the side, I continued my passion for music. Even though I was busy in my career, I still managed to make time to sing and make music. I recorded singing covers and eventually uploaded them to Youtube. In 2009, I started my YouTube channel and gained followers all over the world. I have collaborated with many talented musicians internationally. I have also started producing original songs I wrote and released my originals album in 2011. To date, I have released four self-produced albums with more than 50+ original tracks where I am the sole writer of each and every original. My albums are all available to stream and download on Spotify and other digital sites. It has been a pleasure working and collaborating with talented and amazing musicians I met globally. Thank you to the high technology we have nowadays! We can work creatively with other people even when they are in the other side of the world. By hard work, dedication and perseverance, I was able to reach my dream on being a musician by independently producing my music without any help of a record label. It’s all in the love for music and my passion that gives me the drive and inspiration to create music and touch people’s lives with my songs.
In the present time, I also find myself in the world of broadcasting. I am also “DJ Diane” and broadcasting via my own platform in Facebook via “DDM Studio Live”. I feature and guest other musicians/artists and showcase their songs and artistry in my livestream shows.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been easy. Being an independent artist has pros and cons. Pros, I have full control in my music on what to put out there. I’m flexible in my time and I am my own boss. For cons, some people will not pay attention if they know that you are “independent” and not a mainstream artist. Other radio stations will also not accept tracks unless you are a signed artist. Being an indie, also you put out more money to produce than the money you receive. But like I said, it’s all in the love and passion for music. It’s in the heart and not for the money.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I have always imagined myself being a singer and having my own albums. However, I was also shy growing up in the Philippines. I migrated to the US with my family when I was in my teens. In high school, I joined the choir and that’s when I started opening up and coming out of my shell. I was a late bloomer and started professionally singing when I was in my 20’s. But it’s not too late to pursue music, no matter what age you start.
