Check Out Dan Kruk’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Kruk

Hi Dan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started riding BMX when I was 12 years old. I grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin right down the street from the state fair. One year, there was a BMX team doing stunt demos for the duration of the week of the fair. I would ride my Walmart bike from my house to the event then sit outside of the fence and watch them ride everyday. I was hooked.

From then on I just kept riding and progressing while meeting other riders along the way. I would make videos of myself and my friends riding, eventually I was noticed by companies who at first started to give me small discounts on there products. I kept riding hard and promoting their stuff. I just kept putting in work until the parts started to be free.

My biggest motivation was to turn pro and nothing could stop me. I kept working, learning new tricks, traveling, getting injured, and eventually when I was 22 years old I finally was able to make that dream a reality.

After turning pro, I moved to Long Beach to further pursue my career. I wasn’t able to ride outside year round back in the Midwest so California was the place to be.

Since then I have been all over the world, designed signature parts and have made countless video parts showcasing my skills

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Injuries are a huge part of BMX and I’ve had my fair share. At 17 years old I suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus in my left knee that required surgery. It happened right before I graduated highschool so I had to walk across the stage with my messed up knee. I had the surgery about a month after that and spent the whole summer on my couch. I watched all of my friends enjoy themselves while I was in recovery mode. I had so much time to myself to think on what I needed to do to make my dreams come true. It was truly a blessing in disguise. 6 months later I was back on the bike and more motivated than ever.

Since then I’ve had your typical bumps, bruises, sprains, and even another serious injury, this time to my right knee. A filming trip to Las Vegas turned into a torn PCL and MCL. Thankfully this injury didn’t require surgery, but it did take me off my bike for another 6 months

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional BMX rider. I came from being a kid in West Allis, Wisconsin to being internationally known. I think I am most proud of the work I’ve put in to get here. I always knew If I worked hard and made the right moves I’d get to where I wanted to be

I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m not afraid to work hard. If I want to learn a new trick I’ll go for hours until I get it and then throw up from just being so exhausted. It’s always worth the battle

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
