Check Out Dale Voelker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dale Voelker.

Hi Dale, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My earliest memories of making art is coloring books, drawing on paper placemats at restaurants, art contests in elementary school, ceramics in middle school and batik in high school. College was focused on graphic design and drawing and painting in the spare moments.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running my own design business instilled a drive to get things done. I try to always have multiple pieces going and sketch daily to keep the practice moving.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make layered collage paintings, that create visual histories. My current work is rugged and blends areas of design with those of absolute chaos, wielding newspaper, paint, markers and spray paint. The editing process is about layering–adding and covering back up. My practice dances around with abstraction and figuration. I use exaggerated lines and color, developing art that is bold, physical and has an overall element of fun.
