Hi Codi-Rose, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The idea for Step and Repeat LA was born in 2009, when Codi-Rose recognized the growing demand for red carpet backdrops and event set-up essentials that combine function with Hollywood flair. Drawing from a deep family legacy in the sign business, she spun off the company from her father’s established shop, Collins Visual Media to focus entirely on step and repeats — launching what would become a go-to brand for red carpet events across the country.
Her father, George Collins, began painting signs at just 14 years old in Kansas and later moved to Los Angeles, where he built a reputation for his creativity, speed, and problem-solving. He went on to found Collins Visual Media, a full-service sign company specializing in custom signage and hero props for films. As red carpet events and branded backdrops gained popularity, Collins Visual Media began producing more of them — but it was Codi-Rose who saw the opportunity to turn that demand into a dedicated business.
With its own team and production facilities, Step and Repeat LA operates as a subsidiary of Collins Visual Media — combining over 40 years of industry expertise with fresh energy and vision. Codi-Rose’s passion for the event world, along with her drive to make things happen, has helped turn the company into a leader in red carpet design and production, bringing glitz, glam, and professionalism to high-profile events nationwide.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part it has been exciting to bring event visions to life and to be trusted by major networks, streaming platforms, businesses and by people doing intimate gatherings. Like most businesses, Covid was difficult to navigate, but we stayed afloat with social distancing signs and contributing to our local communities.

At Step and Repeat LA, we’re all about creating that red carpet moment — whether it’s for a big Hollywood premiere, pop-up shop, weddings, conferences or a small backyard party. We specialize in custom step and repeat backdrops and media walls, but we also do everything that goes with them — red carpets, stanchions, ropes, signage, logo cut-outs… pretty much anything you need to make your event pop.
What sets us apart is that we’re fast, detail-oriented, and super passionate about what we do. Our team is tight-knit and super creative with diverse backgrounds in graphic design, carpentry, marketing, branding and event aesthetics— we’ve worked on everything from celebrity events to corporate parties to private celebrations. We ship all over the U.S., and here in LA, we even offer event installation and custom on-site builds.
What I’m most proud of is the way we’ve grown from a small niche into something that really makes an impact at events. We’re part of a larger family business, Collins Visual Media, which has been in the sign industry for over 40 years, so there’s a ton of experience behind what we do. But at the end of the day, it’s about making our clients’ events look and feel amazing — and we love being a part of that.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Meticulous care for creating events. Problem solving with our creative team and clients to elevate each experience and make everything go better than planned. This is what we are most proud of.
