Today we’d like to introduce you to Aiya Hammond.
Hi Aiya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Kazakhstan and from a young age I always gravitated toward beauty, creativity and self-expression. When I moved to the United States, everything in my life changed. A new country a new environment and a completely new chapter pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Being here gave me the freedom and the confidence to express myself more – to explore my style, my voice and myself in general.
My journey in modeling started very simply. I didn’t have a clear roadmap, but I had discipline, a strong work ethic and a vision for the kind of woman I wanted to become. Being a petite model, I quickly learned that I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously, and instead of letting it discourage me, I used it as fuel. It made me develop my own lane, focusing on lifestyle, beauty, self-growth and showing that confidence and presence matter more than height.
Today I’m continuing to grow as a model and content creator, expanding my own brand and living the beautiful life I once only visualized. My story is still being written, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited for what’s ahead.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I moved to the United States, I had to rebuild my life from zero – no industry connections, no clear guidance and a completely new environment. The only person I had by my side was my sister, who has always been my biggest inspiration. One of the first challenges were: how to network, how to present myself and how to be taken seriously as a petite model in an industry that often has very rigid standards.
Another challenge was internal: learning to trust myself, express myself and step into my confidence. Coming from a different culture, I had to unlearn the idea of “staying small” and instead allow myself to take up space creatively and personally. It took time to feel comfortable showing my real personality and my ambition.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a petite model and creative based in Los Angeles, focusing mostly on lifestyle and beauty.
I enjoy a lot being part of the creative process: collaborating with photographers, stylists and designers to bring ideas to life.
Because I’m petite, I’ve had to find my own approach in the industry. Instead of trying to fit a traditional mold, I learned to emphasize expression, movement and presence.
I’m proud of the growth I’ve made since starting from scratch in a new country. Every collaboration, big or small, has taught me something and helped me evolve.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
No matter what changes around me, I stay loyal to my values – kindness, integrity and being grounded. When you stay loyal to your values, you attract the right people, the right opportunities and a life that actually feels aligned with who you are.
