Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Danielle.
Jazmine, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I began my crystal journey in 2016 when my partner gifted me with a Rose Quartz bracelet for my birthday. That was the first healing crystal that I was consciously aware of ever possessing. I felt so much love from that bracelet, and that is how I began my personal healing journey. I became obsessed with getting new crystals, (kind of to collect more than my boyfriend) but mostly because as I learned more about them I was exposed to the benefits of crystal healing and holistic wellness for the mind, body, and spirit.
At the time, I was working Full-Time in San Francisco and beginning my second year of Graduate school. When my co-workers suggested that I start wire wrapping all of the crystals I collected, I went to Michael’s that night and bought all of the supplies I needed. Wire wrapping and crystal healing became my new found hobby and joy. I would find myself taking my tools to work and creating while I was there. I would talk to any and everyone about the metaphysical properties of the crystals I was wearing. I found healing through sharing my newfound knowledge of holistic wellness with the community.
I found that knowledge of alternative wellness using the tools of the Earth was limited within my community, especially within my family who has dealt with preventable illness after preventable illness. I quickly learned that in most cases, physical illness is often times a manifestation of imbalance within our emotional/mental/or spiritual bodies. I saw that I suddenly had an accumulation of beautifully wrapped healing crystal jewelry that people were interested in, so I decided to be the bridge between healing ourselves with the Earth and educating the inhabitants of her Queendom on how to do so and that is how Queendom Cultivation was born.
Two weeks after receiving my Master’s degree in 2017, I was laid off from my job due to downsizing. This was more so a blessing than a problem because I dedicated my time after that into growing Queendom Cultivation and I have been a full-time artist/healer/educator since.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make high vibrational healing crystal jewelry pieces. I call my work a collaboration between the Earth and me. I primarily use copper when wire wrapping my pieces due to its healing benefits and the way it supports the energy of the crystals. I also get commissioned to make some really unique pieces for my clients. That is my favorite thing to do-bring someone else’s vision to life. Along with creating jewelry, I teach others how to create jewelry too. I have traveled the country to facilitate private lessons and big group classes of 60-80+ people. Between 2018 and now, I have taught over 500 people how to find healing through the process of creating their own sacred adornments. What I do is more than just jewelry making, it’s a ritual for me. It is about healing while creating, spreading love through education, and becoming empowered to heal ourselves of spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical trauma through the tools given to us by the Earth.
I hope that people take away that our greatest power is within and crystals are an amazing tool that we can use to activate that power and heal ourselves.
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I think that as the world changes, it is the role of the artist to represent what freedom and deviance from the status quo looks like. We should continue to show the world as it really is, to be the truth-tellers, the historians, the healers, the keepers of the flame. Without art and creation, the world loses its color. Art brings life and people together, no matter how far apart the world may move away from one another.
I do not allow my art to be stifled by the issues of the world, instead, it becomes more bold and undeniable. I have two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Political Science and one in Criminal Justice. I also have my Master’s in International Security Studies. I gave so many years of my life and energy to learning about the world, but I was not giving my art to the world. Through what I learned in my studies, I was even more passionate about using my art form to bring healing to the areas and communities that I believe have faced the most adversity in this world.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work can be found on QueendomCultivation.com. You can support my work by purchasing a piece off of my website or commissioning me to make a custom piece for you. You can also support by attending one of my classes when I come to a city near you. I am also a full-spectrum doula, spiritual wellness coach, and in 2020, I’ll be launching my creative business consulting services called Queendom Collaboration, all of which can be found on my website.
