Benjamin Becerra shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Benjamin, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
Myself , my peers and people i look up to.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
From homeless to the recording studio, I was homeless for 2 years.
Born Benjamin Becerra in El Paso, Texas, Fade Dresto’s musical journey began with the simple tap of pencils in a classroom. Encouraged by his mother, he picked up the trombone and trumpet, laying the foundation for his future in music. From those early rhythms, a star was born.
Fade Dresto blends Hip-Hop, Pop, and RnB, drawing inspiration from legends like UGK, Lil Wayne, and James Brown. His style is a unique fusion of Texas grit and California smoothness, creating a sound that’s authentic, versatile, and unforgettable. Fade’ stands for “Fulfilling A Dream Everywhere,” a mission that fuels his artistry. ‘Dresto’ pays homage to Compton Hip-Hop legend Gangsta Dresta, anchoring his roots in Hip-Hop culture and respect for its pioneers.
Fade Dresto isn’t just about beats and bars; he’s about impact. His music is an alternative voice to violence and negativity, encouraging listeners to treat their craft like a business, focus on longevity, and embrace personal transformation.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that I was always misunderstood in almost everything i did or said. It was never about not being extremely articulate with my words it was more so about not believing and being underestimated which everyone is entitled to make any decision they want. I believed that no one will understand me then i latter realized it was never about what a person thinks its actually about the right people and in my case i had to find the people who belong in my circle.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, during 2017-2020 i was at the brink of my existence cause i was homeless, had no support and just about had it with life’s adversity but then i had an epiphany and came to the conclusion that i have a purpose in life and i shouldn’t give up or think i’m falling behind because no does since life doesn’t come to you but out of you.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe theres bad things happening in the music industry but i cant prove since i have no proof.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would build a regeneration machine and a suit similar to the alien predator and a state of the art underground mansion for all my family and clan.
