We’re looking forward to introducing you to Trévon Session. Check out our conversation below.
Trévon, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Whether it’s a professional photographer for the NBA, creating viral content for social media, or breaking Guinness world records one thing is for sure. I’ve been chasing perfection knowing I’ll never really achieve it. Increasing my mental, physical, and spiritual capacity in order to be the best version of myself is all I can be. Through this process I remain focused and dialed in so that I’m strong enough to understand where I am weak. If I ever stopped this process I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Although my friends & family would be proud of how far I’ve come, it would be a disservice to not give them my best effort.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I fell in love with the game of basketball. My brand Kodaksession has had the privilege of working with renowned organizations such as ESPN, Ballislife, the BIG3, Los Angeles Sparks, and a diverse range of micro/macro influencers across the United States. I’ve documented some of the most memorable moments in streetball, most iconic professionals in sports, bringing dynamic visuals to life. My company illustrates my roots and connecting communities nationwide through social media.
Whenever I’m not capturing a moment, I’m actively living one. I dedicate myself to consistently training and strengthening my mind, body, and soul, maintaining discipline and focus as I pursue new goals. Chasing perfection striving for growth beyond my current achievements. I am deeply grateful for all the failures and hardships along the way. I’ve been able to push myself body past unthinkable limitations.
In the last 6 months I’ve been on an ambitious journey to break not just one, but hopefully two Guinness World Records by the end of 2026.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my parents and, most importantly, with God has profoundly shaped the person I am today. They serve as the foundation of my values and are the reason I hold myself to the highest standards. Inspired by their guidance and faith, my motto is simply no excuse, just produce. I stay grounded in humility and remain willing to step outside of my comfort zone, continuously testing my limitations to grow stronger both mentally and physically. These core principles drive me to pursue my goals with unwavering dedication and purpose.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to remain humble. Everybody is an overnight success, we just don’t know what night it will be. For some it will take months, others years of suffering. Thinking back I became so comfortable with the grind I expected a spot to be given to me. The reality was everyone has aspired to be in the Top 1% some point in their life but almost no one chases to go beyond that. I was apart of the masses and didn’t realize my potential until I seen the value in my misfortune. The bottomless feeling of happiness you get once you’ve reached your goals is so rewarding. Spending months even years of trial and error, failure after failure before achieving real success is addictive to be around. The pain made me appreciate and understand how to love more instead of thinking negatively.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Kobe Bryant was more than an icon but a mentor and I admired his character and work ethic. When he passed away I told myself I would never forget his teachings both on and off the floor. Having a mamba mentality has stuck with me and it will remain with me until the end.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
True wealth can’t be measured by what you possess. One aspect of my culture that deeply influences me is the Hawaiian connection to the land and spirits. While I understand that many people may be skeptical of ghost stories or spiritual beliefs, I personally believe in the energy that surrounds us both good and evil. To me, there are unseen forces at work in our lives, which we often interpret as miracles or tragedies. In the end real value is meant to be built not bought so I walk by faith not sight.
