We’re looking forward to introducing you to T1LDOOMSDAY. Check out our conversation below.
T1LDOOMSDAY, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Mmmm, yes I have. Multiple times. There are a lot of moments I would get an idea and because of how busy it is juggling work and creative life I didn’t act on it quick. The time allowed between made me realize it wasn’t so much art made to better understand myself but for exposure, or other reasons that don’t fit.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Doom for short or T1LDOOMSDAY on platforms. Im an upcoming chicana creative, currently im recording music, modeling but Im mostly known as a Painter. I work with acrylic paint and even do live paints at Camp Flog Gnaw for Odd future member Mike G. Just searching and creating to get a better understanding of myself and the world around me.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
It’s interesting because I have always been very confident in myself and my passions but also so easily influenced by my peers, I’m very open minded. My family and friends from my neighborhood all have the drawings I made them since very young. Finishing high school was very confusing for me, my education was from an alternative school. I was not college ready at all but didn’t understand that it wasn’t necessary. Coming from immigrant family it meant a lot to the adults around me that I be the first one to graduate from college. That threw me off for a bit.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yeah, just more so gave up on sharing everything. I’ve never stopped being creative. Choosing to share your art is very brave. The moments I have considered giving up was just because the nerve it takes to be seen.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Easily Mike G. Aside from growing up thinking he was the funniest one in OF. He has been one of the nicest people ever to work with, very respectful and has open arms to new talent. I’m learning he has worked with so many artists who have had huge success and showed them the same kindness, it’s something I admire and want to emit that energy myself.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m executing an idea, making things with paint, pen, or just using my hands. It gives me a sense of autonomy.
