An Inspired Chat with Sarai Gonzalez of Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Sarai Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Sarai, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, without a doubt. In my line of work, people are trusting me not just with their appearance, but often with important moments in their lives—weddings, photoshoots, special events, or even just helping them feel their best while traveling. Skills and energy matter, but if you don’t have integrity—showing up, being honest, and truly caring for people—then none of the rest really holds weight. Integrity builds lasting relationships, and for me, that’s what keeps clients coming back and allows me to keep doing what I love in so many different places

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarai Gonzalez, and I’m a travel hairstylist with a passion for bringing beauty and confidence to people wherever life takes them. I started my journey in the beauty industry because I’ve always loved the way hair can completely transform how someone feels. Over time, I realized I didn’t just want to stay behind a salon chair—I wanted to take my skills on the road and be able to meet clients where they are, whether that’s for a destination wedding, a photoshoot, or a special event.

What makes my work unique is the flexibility and personal connection I bring. Being a travel stylist means I get to adapt to new environments, cultures, and styles, while still giving each client a look that feels authentically them. I see my work as more than just hair—it’s about being part of moments that matter, making people feel beautiful, and creating memories.

Right now, I’m focused on growing my brand, expanding my reach, and collaborating with creatives in the fashion and beauty space who inspire me. I’m excited to keep traveling, connecting, and doing what I love in places I never imagined my work would take me

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Cosmetology school played a huge role in shaping my career—it gave me the foundation, discipline, and technical knowledge I still use every day. I had instructors there who pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and really treat hairstyling as both a craft and a business. Beyond school, my clients have been my greatest teachers. Every appointment teaches me something new about patience, communication, and adaptability. And of course, my family instilled in me the work ethic and resilience that make it possible for me to travel and keep building my brand. Altogether, those experiences taught me that hard work isn’t just about showing up—it’s about constantly learning and growing.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, I always found comfort in being creative. Whether it was doing little hairstyles on myself or friends, drawing, or just finding a way to express myself, it helped me shift my focus and feel calmer. My family also played a big role—they’ve always been my safe space, reminding me that no matter what I was going through, I wasn’t alone. I think that’s why I value connection so much in my work today—because I know how powerful it is to feel supported and seen.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I firmly believe that I am some sort of chameleon that’s adapts to my environment and every particular client that I have. Making my work never feel like a job.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who made them feel seen, confident, and cared for. Not just through the work I did with hair, but in the way I showed up for them—listening, encouraging, and creating moments that mattered. I want to be remembered as someone who chased her passion, embraced adventure, and treated every connection with kindness and integrity. If people say I made their day brighter, helped them feel beautiful, or inspired them to follow their own dreams, that would mean I did something truly worthwhile.
