Ruxanda, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up i say my prayer, my meditation, I work out I practice my singing ,i practice, my piano, my music, then I practice my dancing later in the afternoon. I go to my studio recording session and then dance rehearsals in the evenings. I have more rehearsals and sometimes I have tv shows or I have livd performances or shows .
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ruxanda,i’m a singer songwriter, dancer, choreographer and performer. I live my life by enjoying and working in a field that I love. My life feels like I don’t work 1 day. It’s an amazing life. I’m very grateful and blessed to do what I love and also make a living out of it. I’ve been dancing and singing playing piano since I was 6 years old. I come from a musician’s background. My parents are both musicians. And I’ve been dancing since I was 7 years old, I moved to the United States when I turned 23 from my home country, Moldova, and I continued my journey in the music and dance career in the United States .In the United States, I’ve been part of big shows like “Dancing with the stars” and I’ve been working with choreographers,Well-known choreographers Of world class, like Anthony Thomas, the former choreographer of Janet Jackson. Also I worked with those the singer songwriter, Chris Brown.I was one of the feature dancers in his music video. Currently, i’m working on a new record, and i’m working on my new releases. And the new music video is gonna come out once the record will be released.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a little girl when I turned 4. I started to have the passion of singing and emulating my favorite artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Tony Braxton ,Celine Dion, and I would watch for hours and know by heart entire albums of their songs and perform and dance and sing in front of the mirror for hours. When I was a little girl, I used to make showcases in front of my parents and my relatives, my cousins, family gatherings and celebrations like birthday parties, family events. I used to watch a lot of Hollywood movies and listen to English,so I can make my pronunciation better in English when I was a little girl, always I dreamt of being part of Hollywood, which happened later in life, when I moved to America.I moved to Los Angeles California.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, a lot of times when I was struggling with my living situations. I had no place where to live in Los Angeles, when I moved to California, it was very tough, financially. I had no support and I had no job in the beginning, so for me, my living situation was very much challenging. I had months when I had No money to eat so I would just buy very cheap food to survive. And just be on peanut butter, for multiple weeks, in a row, I had moments when my colleagues from my industry, music or dancers would be doing things on purpose because they were jealous, too jeopardize my career or my success. And that was moments when I Was very depressed.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire a lot. The legends of the music industry like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, James Brown, Whitney Houston. These are one of the most influential idol artists that they really formed me as a singer-songwriter, and performer that I am, and Amongst Madonna and Jennifer Lopez, the aspect of the entertainment also is a big influence on me. How I grew as an artist, I really admired their work ethic, I admire the way they think the way they create the way they portray and create an image about themselves in the world as artists. I really admire the way they approach creativity and music and the music field and the songwriting aspect.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I really Hope people through the message of my music will Keep relating to my songs to my music to my art, to my songwriting, and hopefully help them in their lives in their love stories. And going through, tribulations and challenges to become better persons and to become a better world.
