An Inspired Chat with Nikkole of Brentwood

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nikkole. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Nikkole, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, without question. Intelligence guides my decisions and energy fuels my performance, but integrity is what keeps me grounded. In music, you’re constantly pulled in different directions…what to sound like, what to look like, what to say. Integrity is what helps me stay true to my voice and my values. It’s the foundation that makes the art real. When I’m honest in my writing and in how I show up as a person, the intelligence and the energy naturally fall into place, and the audience feels that authenticity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely… I’m Nikkole. I’m a singer, songwriter, and performer who’s always been driven by the power of connection, whether that’s through music, storytelling, or creating moments that stay with people. My journey has taken me across stages, studios, and collaborations that have shaped not only my sound but the way I approach my artistry and purpose.

What makes my work unique is that everything I create comes from a place of authenticity, emotion, and intention. I love blending genres, exploring new sonic spaces, and making music that people can truly feel …whether it’s something that moves them on the dance floor or something that speaks to their heart.

Right now, I’m especially excited about the new remix of my single “Connect,” which dropped on 12/5. It brings a whole new energy to the record, and I can’t wait for people to experience this version. I’m also working on new music, visuals, and collaborations as I continue to evolve creatively and connect with my audience in deeper ways.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose… and that I’m finally ready to release… is the version of myself that felt I had to shrink, soften, or over-prove my worth just to fit into certain spaces in this industry. As women in music, we’re often encouraged to be agreeable, to not take up “too much” space, and to work twice as hard for half the recognition. And for a long time, I carried that pressure like it was part of the job.

But it’s not serving me anymore.

I’m releasing the need for permission, the habit of dimming my light, and the belief that I have to be anything other than fully myself to succeed. That version of me helped me survive, learn, and navigate…but the woman I am now is ready to create, lead, and move forward with confidence, clarity, and intention.

Letting that go is making room for a new level of artistry, power, and self-trust.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes… there was a time I almost gave up. Not on my talent or my dreams, but on myself. I was in a relationship that slowly chipped away at who I was…my confidence, my voice, my sense of worth. It’s wild how you can be so strong in the world and still find yourself shrinking behind closed doors. I kept pouring into someone who couldn’t pour back, and after a while, I didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me.

There was a moment when I truly questioned whether I had anything left to give…emotionally, creatively, spiritually. I felt drained, invisible, and completely disconnected from the spark that has always driven me.

But that breaking point became the turning point.

Walking away from that relationship saved me. It reminded me that my light, my passion, and my purpose are worth fighting for. And coming back to myself…to my music, my joy, my voice…has been the most powerful comeback of all.

I didn’t give up. I chose me. And that changed everything.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
In many ways, yes…the public version of me is the real me. The confidence, the passion, the glamour, the artistry… all of that is genuinely who I am. But it’s not the whole me.

What people often don’t see are the quieter layers…the sensitive parts, the overthinker, the woman who’s had to rebuild herself after heartbreaks and disappointments. In this industry, you learn how to show strength even when you’re healing, and how to keep moving even when life hits hard.

So the version of me that the world sees is real… it’s just the part that’s ready to be seen.

The rest of me is just as authentic…the vulnerable, silly, emotional, evolving parts…but those pieces are sacred. I share them with the people who’ve earned that closeness.

So yes, the public me is real. She’s just the highlight reel of a very full, very human woman underneath.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I’d build something that outlives even the idea of time…a legacy of connection. I’d create a space, both in music and in the world, where people feel seen, understood, and uplifted. I’d build a body of work so honest and expansive that it becomes a home for anyone who’s ever felt lost, unheard, or in need of a reminder that they matter.

I’d pour into generations of artists, especially women, helping them find their voices without having to dim their light the way so many of us once did. And I’d build a world where creativity, healing, and freedom aren’t luxuries …they’re the foundation.

If I had forever, I’d spend it creating things that help people feel a little less alone and a lot more powerful. Because that, to me, is what truly lives forever.
