An Inspired Chat with Jack Knight

We recently had the chance to connect with Jack Knight and have shared our conversation below.

Jack, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Painting. Sun goes down and the sun comes up

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am now and have always been a painter. I was one of those kids in school whiling away the hours of valuable class time doodling and drawing and traversing the landscapes of imagination. I studied art in college and learned the tools and techniques of the trade. When I left I worked in the field illustration and immediately started freelancing. I started Art for Architecture in 1985 to provide art services and architectural renderings to architectural and retail firms. I also did illustrations for numerous magazines and corporations. My spare time was also filled with art just to do art. While I have explored the world of digital and computer generated art I still prefer the tactile experience of brushes and paint over the mouse and keyboard.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a child who drew and painted for just the joy of creating something. The kids in my classes ask when I started doing art but in truth I do not remember ever not doing art.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It was always a struggle to put the business side over the creative side and many a time I thought there were probably more profitable opportunities to fill my time

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Sharing the experience of art which I use for Arts and Community and the slogan I live by

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I can not think of anything
