Isabelle , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
That people think generally that women can’t produce EDM music. Mostly they are surprised when they figure out that I can also compose and produce. On the one hand it makes me happy to get compliments because of my music but on the other hand this story shows us that the music industry is still male-dominated and full of prejudices that we need to eliminate.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an EDM Producer, top liner, singer and songwriter. I love making electronic music – especially MainStage, Dance, Big Room music. In the past I worked with artists like Luca Testa, Millean, Van Snyder and other artists. I also run a new second project as a techno producer (APHRØDITE).
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I myself. All what I did, do and will do, is something that created through years of hard work. No one told me that I should follow this way. No one told me that I need to learn how to compose music for example. It was just my intuition and my passion that I was following.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I would lie if I say there was no time when I wanted to give up.
There were many times but at the same time it has never came up in my mind to cancel everything.
Because I knew that music is my everything. And wouldn’t you do anything for something you adore and love?
I think people who are not successful are people who gave up. That’s the biggest mistake that you ever could do.
Failing belongs to life like breathing but the truth of success is to go ahead even if you got the feeling that you can’t make it. Sometimes you need to lose something in order to win.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, my music is absolutely real like me. It doesn’t make any sense to play a role. That would be not authentic. I write about the love, the life, the anxiety, the sadness and the loneliness – about topics that concerns us.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I listen to my new, unreleased music. Even if it takes over moths until the release, I always need to listen to it everywhere. At home, in the office, in the car, at the gym. Everywhere. It’s like an addiction.
