Douglas Donehoo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Douglas, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’ve been burned by SEO companies in the past and while I know it is generally an important asset for an online business, I have been avoiding addressing issues in the fear of being burned again by companies chasing the money instead of delivering the value.
I believe I have finally come across a great SEO outfit that, of course, I interviewed extensively in a Zoom call. We are in our 2nd month together and they are very pro-actively tackling the issues we’ve discussed and delivering tremendous value necessary to obtain organic search results on today’s algorithm-based internet.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Celebrating 15 years of sustainable clothing development and 100% made in Los Angeles. As such, we do not veer off far from the styles that our loyal customers love.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I think I was heavily influenced by TV shows like Dynasty & Falcon Crest when I was a child, and saw myself becoming rich & powerful.! LOL. Although I am generally a very ambitious person, I do not fantasize about personal enrichment, rather, I focus on leaving the world a better place in the future. My passion is non-profits that are focused on saving habitat, animals, and the planet’s environment.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I often do actually…. I have had several other business ideas and completely other careers I have often thought about pursuing. I think for now, I have settled on the commitment to my sustainable clothing company!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I hope I’m wrong, but I surmise from my sense of the world, that too many smart people are focused on their own wealth accumulation, power, and destiny. I would hope more smart people become less selfish and focus more on the planet, the habitat, and the planet’s health.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
i would sell my company and spend the rest of my free time working for non-profits in the areas of sustaining habitat & (large game) animals.
