An Inspired Chat with Diamond Booker of West Hollywood

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Diamond Booker. Check out our conversation below.

Diamond, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
TBH, sewing, dancing, and just being creative helped me reconnect with my 13-year-old self again. Back then, I was this big, fearless dreamer who didn’t care about “adulting” or trying to look perfectly put together. That mindset kind of got buried when I was around 18–22, because I kept seeing everyone go to college, get internships, get married — all that “milestone” stuff.

But at 24, I started taking dance classes and actually taking action on the things I’d always seen in my head. Creating my own dresses and outfits that are tailored to me feels so empowering. It lets me fully express my creativity in a way that feels genuine and personal.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Diamond and I am a self-proclaimed actress, entrepreneur, and creative. I was born in Cleveland but moved to LA in 2019, working slowly and surely to build my dream life. I moved to LA to attend FIDM, a school that helped me connect with like-minded, free-thinking creatives.

I love to nourish the creative and logical sides of my brain, which is why I love entrepreneurship and dance/sewing/acting. It’s something that always confused me but later made sense when I moved to LA. I am such an analytical problem solver (loving Google Sheets and data lol), but I also love the emotions of acting, dance, and creating my own fashionable pieces.

I just want to build my legacy as someone who is truly authentic, unapologetic, and creative. I want to be able to inspire the future generations to live the same way, truly themselves.

Right now I am working on building my audience and platform in an organic way. I enjoy posting my sewing videos, dance content, my self tapes, and business tips!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A huge moment that was pivotal for me was seeing Rihanna in person at the mall for her opening of Savage x Fenty. It was such an amazing experience because she is a huge inspiration to me. Seeing someone who came from almost nothing be able to grow, inspire millions, and cultivate these billion-dollar brands was so surreal.

Not only was she someone who was successful in the creative fields of fashion, music, and acting, but also in business, entrepreneurship, VC, and real estate — it’s so deeply inspiring. Because a part of me always felt you could only do one: either be a joyful starving artist or a miserable rich person lol.

I’m just grateful that I have someone to inspire me and guide me in that way. That’s why I always tell people it’s super important to have someone who can “mentor” or guide you, because without it I would be so lost.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being too much or too confident. I felt like as a child/in elem and middle school, I had to quiet my confidence down because it would offend other people. I don’t want to say this in an “arrogant” way because it’s not at all, but it’s something that is taught a lot or felt a lot when you’re young — to not “brag” or to not be confident because it’ll “rub people the wrong way.”

So when I got good grades or did something creative, I always hid it, which in the long run made me more quiet, shy, and afraid of success. But growing older, I have worked to let go of that. I want to show my success not in a boisterous way, but in a “this can be you, this can be inspiring” way. I want to be able to lead and guide the future generations.

That’s why it’s so important for me to showcase my interests of acting, dancing, fashion, and entrepreneurship, because I know there’s someone out there who is fearful of what others think if they lived authentically themselves and put themselves out there.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I truly believe that if you are persistent, consistent, and actionable, the universe will listen and open so many doors for you. It’s so crazy looking back at my life at moments where I felt as if I had no clue what I was going to do, but the doors opened for me in such mind-blowing ways.

For example, in HS I wanted to move to LA so badly but really had no plan. The plan I sort of had was either to get accepted into UCLA and move then or get an apartment in Santa Monica (lol I was 17 with no job…). High school was coming to an end and I had no idea what direction to take, but I knew in my heart I was going to move there (keep in mind I visualized and wished for it for YEARS since 9th grade so it wasn’t a spontaneous idea).

So February comes, and I am still not accepted into any LA college, and all my friends are getting acceptance letters (in-state in OH, or elsewhere). But little did I know, I got the idea of FIDM from remembering when I used to watch Tara Michelle on YouTube in 2015 when she went to FIDM. It gave me the idea to apply, and I got accepted! It was insane because I got accepted based on fashion design and sketches (I went for Beauty Marketing and didn’t start sewing until 2025), so it all felt so surreal and sort of just lucky.

I felt it was perfect — I received apartment housing, a creative school, and just the perfect foundation to start in. I can’t prove that the universe will come through, and many don’t believe it, but sometimes you just let go and trust that it will all come together.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am creating. When I’m on production sets, sewing new ideas I get in my brain at random hours, dancing at Playground LA, or just indulging in entrepreneurial content. It makes me feel in control and like I’m taking action to make my life better in a way that works for me and improves me.
