Good morning DARIA Y MARIA, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
We usually film vlogs about how our day goes and post them as Reels and TikToks – “a day in the life of designers.” We show our followers what our day looks like. So come to our Instagram and TikTok ( @daria_y_maria ) and watch how fun and interesting our days are

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are DARIA Y MARIA, twin sisters from Los Angeles who built our independent sustainable brand from scratch. We transform vintage American football jerseys, hoodies and sweatshirts into one-of-a-kind couture pieces.

Our pieces have become a true phenomenon in K-pop – worn by Jennie from BLACKPINK, AESPA, MISAMO (TWICE), BoA, ICHILLIN’, IZNA, Hearts2Hearts, and many more. Recently, three different idols appeared in similar versions of our red dress, and it sparked one of this season’s biggest K-pop trends, widely covered in Korean media.

Beyond Asia, our work is embraced by stars worldwide – Christina Aguilera, Sophie Powers, Flyana Boss, Priah Ferguson (Stranger Things), Ecca Vandal and many more.

This global support proves that sustainable fashion is not just about casual recycled pieces – it is couture that protects the planet and defines what’s fashionable today.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
The world never told us who we had to be – we decided that ourselves. Even as kids, we believed that you can become anything you want. We didn’t wait for permission, approval, or someone to “see” us. We knew who we were and where we were going. Today we are building our own fashion house with that same certainty.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
What helped was our mom. When we were scared or upset, she would hug us and tell us everything would be okay, and with her it truly felt that way. She’s no longer with us, and that loss will forever live in our hearts, but we believe she’s still guiding us from above. That belief gives us strength and keeps us moving forward.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
We are committed to building our influence in global fashion and culture, no matter how long it takes. We want our work to have meaning and to inspire people, not just exist for a moment.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If we retired, people would miss the inspiration we bring. We create fresh ideas and start trends that many artists and designers later follow. Without us, the world would have a little less creativity, because we’re the ones bringing something new into culture.
