Corinthian, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
When my daughter was born, I felt an overwhelming sense of pure joy. It was as if my heart swelled with love and happiness, and nothing else mattered in that moment. The arrival of my child brought a sense of wonder, excitement, and profound fulfillment. I remember feeling tears of joy streaming down my face, a huge smile spreading across my face, and a deep sense of gratitude for this precious new life. In that instant, all my worries and cares seemed to melt away, replaced by an all-consuming love and devotion to my little one. The experience was indescribable, but it marked the beginning of a lifelong journey of love, growth, and adventure with my child.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Corinthian Washington, but everyone calls me Coco. I’m a dedicated teacher and the founder of 3rd Eye Booking Company, a thriving booking agency that’s been connecting talented artists with audiences worldwide since 2014. With a team of 18 agents working tirelessly behind the scenes, we’ve established ourselves as a reputable force in the industry, booking shows for artists across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
As the leader of 3rd Eye Booking Company, I’m always working to drive our mission forward, whether that means strategizing with my team, scouting out new talent, or building relationships with venues and promoters. Our sights are set on Europe, where we’re launching Operation Kali Storm, a strategic plan aimed at amplifying our influence over the European venue circuit. With a passion for music and a commitment to excellence, I’m excited to see what the future holds for 3rd Eye Booking Company.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Encountering a homeless child was a pivotal moment that profoundly shifted my perspective on the world. Witnessing the stark contrast between their reality and the privileges I’ve known ignited a deep sense of empathy and responsibility within me. This experience crystallized my understanding of the systemic inequalities and challenges that many face, and it fueled my determination to make a meaningful difference. Becoming a teacher wasn’t just a career choice; it became a calling to provide stability, support, and opportunities for growth to students who might be navigating similar hardships. This experience instilled in me a sense of purpose, driving me to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering and struggling have been some of the most transformative experiences in my life, teaching me valuable lessons and fostering personal growth. When I faced challenges like depression and financial instability, I was forced to confront my vulnerabilities and limitations. These experiences humbled me, helping me develop empathy, resilience, and a deeper understanding of myself and others.
Being “low and down” gave me a unique perspective, allowing me to see the world from a different angle. I developed a greater appreciation for the small things in life, and my priorities shifted as I focused on what truly mattered. These experiences taught me to be more resourceful, adaptable, and determined.
While success brought me confidence and a sense of accomplishment, it didn’t teach me the same level of self-awareness and humility that came from struggling. By navigating difficult times, I’ve developed a stronger sense of character and a more profound understanding of what it means to overcome adversity.
Looking back, I realize that my struggles have shaped me in ways that success alone couldn’t. I’ve learned to appreciate the journey, not just the destination, and I’ve developed a deeper sense of purpose and resilience that serves me well in all aspects of my life.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version of me is real. I hardly come outside. When I do, you’re definitely going to get all of me
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I hope that my legacy will be defined by the love and dedication I’ve shown to helping children thrive. As an educator and a passionate advocate for youth development, I’ve always believed that building a strong foundation for kids is crucial to their success. My work with 3rd Eye Booking Company may seem unrelated at first glance, but it’s actually a vital part of my mission. Music has a way of bringing people together, and I find solace in booking tours for bands. It’s almost therapeutic for me, a way to calm my anxiety and tap into my creativity.
When I’m working with artists, negotiating with venues, and coordinating tours, I feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It’s not just about booking shows; it’s about creating experiences that bring joy to others. Music has a way of transcending boundaries and speaking to our souls in a way that few other things can. As someone who’s passionate about education and youth development, I believe that music can be a powerful tool for growth and self-expression.
Through 3rd Eye Booking Company, I aim to support emerging artists and provide them with opportunities to share their talents with the world. It’s a labor of love, and one that brings me a sense of pride and satisfaction. Ultimately, I hope that my legacy will reflect my commitment to empowering the next generation and fostering a love of music and learning that will last a lifetime.
