Good morning Alma, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that is bringing me joy lately is going to the gym. I love how it helps me clear my mind and feel less stressed. Every time I finish a workout, I feel proud of myself for showing up and getting it done. I’m starting to see changes in my body, and it makes me feel more confident. The gym also gives me time to focus on myself and my goals. I enjoy learning new exercises and pushing myself to get stronger. Overall, the gym has become my happy place and something I really look forward to.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Alma, and right now I’m focusing on working on myself—both mentally and physically. I’m currently in school studying marketing, which has been exciting because I love being creative and learning new things. At the same time, I’ve been putting a lot of energy into improving my mental health and building better habits that make me feel good inside and out. I’m also jumping back into modeling, which has always been a dream of mine. It feels amazing to step back into something I’m passionate about while also becoming the best version of myself. I’m learning to balance everything one step at a time, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
A part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is being a people pleaser. For a long time, I felt like I had to make everyone around me happy, even if it meant putting myself last. I would say yes to things I didn’t want to do just to avoid disappointing others. But I’ve learned that constantly pleasing others only leaves me feeling drained and unhappy. It’s time to let go of that habit and start choosing myself and my peace first. I’m realizing that it’s okay to set boundaries and not everyone needs to understand them. Pleasing myself and protecting my energy matters too.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, I remember a time when someone truly listened to me, my mom. She has always been the one who listens without judgment and supports me no matter what. I’ll never forget when I told her I wanted to pursue modeling. Instead of doubting me or brushing it off, she was the first person to believe in me and tell me I could do it. She listened to my dreams and made me feel like they mattered. Her belief in me gave me the confidence to take my first steps in modeling. Even now, she’s always there to remind me to keep going.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Another cultural value I protect at all costs is respect. I was raised to always show respect to others, whether it’s through my words, actions, or how I carry myself. Respect means treating people with kindness, listening when they speak, and valuing their feelings and differences. It’s something I practice in every part of my life, from school to work to everyday interactions. I believe respect opens doors, builds strong relationships, and creates a positive space for everyone. No matter where life takes me, I’ll always hold onto this value.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light inside me that I’ve been dimming is my full potential. For a long time, I’ve let self-doubt take over, making me believe I’m not good enough or capable enough to reach my goals. I’ve held myself back out of fear, fear of failing, fear of not being perfect, and fear of what others might think. Deep down, I know I have so much to offer and big dreams to chase, but I’ve been the one standing in my own way. It’s time to stop dimming that light and start believing in myself fully. I’m learning to trust that I am enough and that I deserve everything I truly want.
