Hi Alican, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I had a show at a comedy club two months ago. That day was one of the worst days of my life, but I had a commitment to be funny and perform well—and I gave a really good performance.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
This is Alican Akman. I’m an actor, and this year I wrote and directed my first short film. So I think I can call myself a writer and director as well. I perform improv comedy shows with my team in Los Angeles. English is not my first language, and doing these shows in a second language is both challenging and unique.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Lies can break the bonds between people, and honesty can restore them. But if you keep making the same mistakes over and over again, nothing can fix it.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The last 6 months were one of the toughest era of my life. I had too much pressure. And I wanted to give up but something pushed me back from inside.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
There will be hard times,harder than you can ever imagine but you will not give up. You will make it work out somehow. Just believe the universe,god and work hard for it.
