Rising Stars: Meet Pauline (p Behind The Art) of Southern California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pauline (p Behind The Art)

Hi Pauline, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been drawn to art and creativity. Growing up, I loved painting and creating things, but a few years ago, I started painting at home again to help cope with my anxiety. It rekindled my passion for art and opened up a whole new world of possibilities. When I started painting murals, I discovered how much I enjoy bringing visions to life on a large scale. The process felt transformative and deeply fulfilling.

From there, I dove into research, studying the techniques of other artists I look up to and refining my own style. Over time, I’ve been fortunate to take on incredible mural projects, working with local schools and businesses and organizations. Since then, I have created smaller works like stickers, bookmarks, a children’s coloring work and limited time canvas artworks and have been able to share my art with a wider audience. Each step has been a part of a journey that continues to inspire and challenge me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Dealing with anxiety and personal challenges has been a significant part of my journey. Painting became my outlet, a way to process emotions and find peace during difficult times. It was through this process that I discovered the healing power of art and how it could help me reconnect with myself.

Balancing personal growth with building a creative career has had its challenges. However, each obstacle has fueled my passion and pushed me to keep evolving. I see these challenges as a form of alchemy-turning raw, difficult experiences into works of art that carry meaning, hope and inspiration.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a visual artist and a muralist. My work focuses on creating meaningful art that combines creativity with intention. I specialize in murals and canvas artwork, with a style that blends celestial designs, sacred geometry and vibrant colors. I’m also known for my smaller creations like bookmarks, stickers and my children’s coloring book which carry the same level of detail and thought as my larger pieces.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to connect with people through my art, whether it’s transforming a space with a mural or creating a design that resonates personally. My art is also incredibly diverse- I’ve worked with businesses, schools and organizations to create tailored designs that align with their missions and spaces. From playful murals for children to delicate designs for businesses, I enjoy adapting my style to meet different needs.

What sets me apart is the personal touch I bring to every project. My art is inspired by my journey, and I aim to create pieces that are not only visually striking but also meaningful. Whether it’s a large-scale mural or a small sticker, each piece tells a story. Every project or piece of artwork is unique, and it reflects my passion for connecting through art.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t necessarily believe in “bad luck”. But luck has definitely played a role in my life and business. But I believe how you respond to it is what truly matters. I’ve been fortunate to cross paths with people and opportunities that have helped me grow professionally and personally. These moments of good luck have opened doors I might not have anticipated.

There has also been challenges that at the moment threw me off course like dealing with setbacks, or other situations beyond my control. But looking back, those moments taught me resilience and pushed me to find creative solutions and to stay patient and trust the process. In many ways, they became opportunities for growth disguised as obstacles.

Ultimately, I view luck (good or bad) as part of the journey, but it’s the hard work, passion and determination that truly shape success.
