Daily Inspiration: Meet Mason Helberg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Helberg

Hi Mason , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started making music at around 16 years old. A few years after that I enrolled into Musicians Institute in Hollywood when I was 19 for post production audio engineering. I had then moved to Oregon. I was there for about two and a half years and then I moved back to LA. I went through a really rough patch for years after that point. Shortly after I turned 26, an opportunity presented itself to move to Orange County and I took it. I thank God for that opportunity. I don’t think I’d be alive today if not for that opportunity.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth! A lot of my struggles were internal which then caused them to be external as well. I went through a very bad drug addiction which caused me to be homeless in the valley. I’ve been sober now for almost four years. A lot of friends I had either died or ended up in jail or prison. So the message my music carries is that there’s a way out and there’s a peace that surpasses all understanding that can be obtained.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my message. The message I carry within my music. I want people to know that there’s a way out of the struggles and battles we all have within our minds, hearts, and lives. Not only that, I want people to know that there’s hope and we’re not as alone as we all think we are.

What I’m proud of? I guess I’m proud of chasing a God given dream. And I’m grateful God gave me a dream.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The only failure is quitting. Perseverance is being persistent despite difficulty or delay in success. Persevere.
