Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Jones
Hi Morgan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up as an athlete who always loved finding new ways to challenge myself physically. After college, my passion for athletics evolved into a love for fitness! I became an avid participant in group fitness classes and truly valued the positive impact trainers had not only on my fitness journey but also on my well-being—so I decided to become one myself! My teaching journey began as a part-time Lagree Fitness instructor in Northern California. When I moved to LA, I fell in love with Contemporary Pilates and pursued my certification to teach. Teaching Pilates quickly became the most fulfilling aspect of my life, so I decided to make it my full-time career.
Fast forward to today, I split my time between teaching group Pilates classes on the west side of LA and working with private clients in their homes or virtually. I specialize in helping my clients build strength through challenging Pilates workouts. I am also passionate about cross-training Pilates with other forms of movement and work with athletes on Pilates routines that complement their training needs to optimize performance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have always been a pretty risk-averse person, so the idea of stepping away from the comforts of corporate America to build a fitness business from scratch was incredibly unsettling at first. Not to mention, I was trying to do it in LA, which is one of the most saturated Pilates markets in the country.
The hardest part was committing and staying the course. There have been many times on this journey that felt scary and unfamiliar; that’s when imposter syndrome gets the loudest. But I truly believe teaching fitness is my life’s calling, and I don’t want to live a life wondering, “What if?” I reached a point where it felt like I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t explore, with 100% of my effort, what it would look like to live life on my own terms and build a business around my passion. So far, this journey has made me the most fulfilled I have ever been.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In addition to being a Pilates instructor, I am also a wellness content creator with a community of over 75,000 people across all platforms. I take great pride in the space and community I’ve built, which I like to call my “tiny corner of the internet.” The messages and comments I receive from women who share how much my videos have helped them on their wellness journeys or inspired them to become fitness instructors mean the world to me. All I ever wanted was to feel that my work, time, and effort are leaving an impact, and content creation has validated that for me.
My goal with my content is to create a safe space that simplifies wellness and provides evidence-based education on a variety of topics.
What were you like growing up?
Sports and being active were a huge part of my life growing up. I started skiing when I was 3 which was the same year I taught myself how to swim by jumping in the deep end (which has become a life metaphor). As I got older, I got more into organized sports and tried just about every sport until I settled on Basketball being my main athletic focus.
Organized sports taught me a lot about drive, self discipline and being goal oriented and I am grateful they were such a big part of my childhood.
In addition to being active I have always had a really creative side which led my to a long career in marketing. I was raised by a photographer mother so like her I used to love documenting special moments through photography and video.
