Daily Inspiration: Meet Echo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Echo

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I went to HS for art in NYC, so I drew a lot as a kid and that evolved into rapping as I got older and fell in love with hip-hop. I’d memorize my favorite rapper’s songs and then began writing my own rhymes. I started recording at studios as a solo artist and my neighborhood friends saw that and started coming with me, so we formed a crew called S.P.I.K. Clik in Washington Heights, NYC.

After years of growing as artists, the group unfortunately fell apart and I wound up moving to Los Angeles soon after that where I continued pursuing my music dreams, eventually signing a few different record deals and doing shows all over Los Angeles and abroad, including Russia where I opened for Ice Cube, Eve and B.O.B. at Moscow’s first ever hip-hop festival.

Over the years I’ve released countless singles, collaborations, projects, music videos, etc., as I continue trying find my tribe of rap fans that enjoy clever witty emceeing, storytelling and genuine real life rhymes sprinkled with consciousness, science, history and pop culture references.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Different challenges in my personal life have slightly derailed my music from time to time, but I’ve always pushed through because I love to write, record, hear myself back and most importantly see the affect my music has on other people. Experiences like going to jail, being evicted, moving cross-country in haste, etc., have all made the road bumpier but, I enjoy this ride.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As far as my music is concerned, I’d say my overall specialty is making complex topics much simpler. There was a time in my life where I was, and was known as, a conspiracy theorist so there’s always been an inner fire in me to expose secrets, shed light on the dark, and to break down complex concepts for the average person to be able to grasp.

The topics in my music range from the different dimensions we exist in to ancient esoteric history to politics to spirituality and shamanism. All of it is to just elevate minds around me, thereby elevating me.

What matters most to you?
As a father now what matters to me most is my 10 year old daughter. Even before she was born, and now more than ever since she’s arrived, what matters truly is impacting our world in a way that makes it a better, safer, more advanced world to exist in going forward into the future whether that’s with my music or my ability to reach masses in any way.
