Meet Rohan Das of Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rohan Das

Hi Rohan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age, I was captivated by movies. I would immerse myself in my favorite films, reenacting scenes, imagining myself as the lead character, feeling the thrill of each storyline. That passion became a spark, igniting something much deeper as I entered high school. I had a strong desire to explore everything life had to offer—whether it was sports, academics, or creative pursuits.

In high school, I wasn’t just part of things; I led them. I captained both my school’s handball and football teams, won a silver in swimming, and threw myself into track and field events. On the other hand, I was deeply engaged in intellectual activities like debating and expanding my general knowledge. Writing essays and poems was a form of expression, and I began envisioning stories that would someday take shape on screen.

When college came, I majored in business, balancing my academic ambitions with relentless work across three years. It was a time of personal growth and the refining of my creative vision. Hollywood had always resonated with me, so moving to Los Angeles was the natural next step. My goal was clear—to be the best.

The New York Film Academy was where everything began to solidify. My teachers recognized my creativity and dedication. Through collaboration and teamwork, I didn’t just become a filmmaker; I became someone people genuinely wanted to work with. Now, having been part of multiple projects, I’m living what I love—and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has been anything but smooth—challenges have been a constant companion, and in many ways, they’ve shaped the filmmaker I am today. From the very beginning, the path was filled with obstacles, starting with the sheer pressure of balancing my wide range of interests in high school. Leading teams in handball and football while also excelling academically and honing my creative writing skills often felt like I was juggling too much. But I pushed through, knowing that each experience was sharpening different facets of my character.

In college, as I majored in business, the struggles intensified. Juggling academics with this constant aim to improve yourself in so many different aspects was demanding, and there were moments when the pressure felt overwhelming. There were long hours, and the inevitable self-doubt—wondering whether pursuing a career in filmmaking was realistic or just a far-off dream. But every setback pushed me harder, made me more resilient.

Moving to Los Angeles wasn’t as glamorous as it sounds. The competition in Hollywood is fierce, and even with a clear objective to be the best, it’s a place where talent alone doesn’t guarantee success. It was tough to stay motivated, especially when surrounded by so many others chasing the same dream. But the simple objective was to be the best so had to keep a mindset where no matter what happens you just keep going.

At the New York Film Academy, while my teachers admired my creativity and dedication, the pressure to constantly prove myself was relentless. The late nights, the endless revisions, sleepless hardwork it pushed my limits.

Even after becoming part of multiple projects, there are always new challenges—whether it’s securing funding, managing creative differences, or simply navigating the unpredictable nature of the film industry. The road hasn’t been easy, but every struggle has been a lesson, shaping the filmmaker and person I’ve become. And through it all, my passion for storytelling has never wavered; if anything, it’s only grown stronger. I become stronger and better after every problem I face.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me truly happy is spending quality time with my family, sharing moments that make them smile and laugh. I find joy in lifting others up and helping them in any way I can. Working out gives me a sense of fulfillment, while listening to music helps me unwind and stay inspired. Of course, making movies is one of my greatest passions, but beyond that, I’m driven by a constant desire to improve myself, always striving to be better and the best, every single second.
