Meet Carlo Arrechea of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlo Arrechea

Hi Carlo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Havana, Cuba, where my passion for acting ignited at the young age of six. After moving to the United States, I dedicated myself to exploring opportunities in both the Latino and Hollywood markets, immersing myself in the art of storytelling.

My career in the U.S. initially took off in the world of telenovelas, working with Telemundo and Univisión. One of the most memorable roles I had was in Nickelodeon Latin America’s live-action series “Grachi,” which was a huge success. But my big moment in U.S. primetime television came with my debut on CBS’s “S.W.A.T.” as Gio Torres, a role that earned me consideration for a Primetime Emmy nomination. That was a major milestone for me.

As a National Active member of the Television Academy and SAG-AFTRA, I’m proud to represent my roots and my culture. I’ve also had the privilege of training at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre, which helped me sharpen my craft and broaden my horizons.

In recent years, I’ve shifted into producing as well. One of my first projects, “This Charming Man,” premiered at HBO’s New York Latino Film Festival in 2020. And now, I’m excited to be an executive producer on the upcoming feature film “Unspoken Bonds,” which is set for release in 2025. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited for what’s to come!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s truly been a rollercoaster ride. My story isn’t just one of luck; it’s a testament to relentless hard work, resilience, and perseverance. I’m always pushing toward my goals and dreams, knowing there’s always another mountain to climb. What I’ve learned along the way is to enjoy the journey wholeheartedly and to tune out the noise of naysayers.

When I first moved to LA, I naively believed I’d land my next acting role right away, especially after working nonstop in the Latino market. I thought the crossover into Hollywood would be seamless. But I quickly realized this industry is a whole new landscape—one that’s challenging and demanding in ways I didn’t expect. Determined to grow as an actor and perfect my craft, I feel incredibly blessed to have received a scholarship to the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre in Los Angeles. It was a pivotal moment in my journey.

Our industry has faced tremendous challenges, from the pandemic to the recent strikes. While there’s a sense that things are slowly starting to move forward, progress is still gradual. Yet, I refuse to lose faith. I believe deeply in the path I’m on and strive to make the best of every situation. After everything I’ve been through, giving up is simply not an option.

This journey has taught me that every setback holds an opportunity for growth, and I embrace each one with gratitude, knowing it’s all part of the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I take immense pride in my Hollywood debut as Gio Torres, a fictional character and world champion Cuban boxer, on “S.W.A.T.” during primetime national television. This role was a dream come true, and I feel deeply honored to represent my birth country in such a significant way. Bringing Torres to life allowed me to showcase not only my passion for acting but also the resilience and strength of the Cuban people on a prominent platform.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’m thrilled to share that I have a feature film on the horizon called “Unspoken Bonds,” marking my debut as an executive producer. While I won’t be in front of the camera for this one, it holds a deep, personal significance for me. This project is a true labor of love, co-created alongside people who mean the world to me—especially my dear friend of many years, the incredibly talented Venezuelan director, Andreina P. Aristeguieta. Collaborating with her and our amazing team has been a journey filled with heart, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve created together. It’s a story about connection, love, and the unspoken ties that bind us, and I’m excited to finally share it with the world.

“Unspoken Bonds” follows a family facing marital issues, a rebellious daughter, and the challenges of their youngest child’s erratic behavior, which attracts social services. During group therapy, hidden secrets emerge, prompting them to make a life-altering decision that redefines their understanding of family and highlights their resilience in protecting their children.

“Unspoken Bonds” is slated for release in 2025.
