Conversations with Taylor Dunn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Dunn

Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always found beauty in many things. Taking pictures to me is like collecting memories that will never fade. My love for photography was a hobby until one day, I just decided to turn my hobby into a business in 2020. I was hesitant because I did not want my passion for photography to feel like a chore and no longer fun. I can say that has not been the case today. I enjoy capturing landscape shots, brands, and my family’s non-profit organization. As I continue to perfect my craft, my long-term goal is to sell my photos to different wholesalers. I’m looking forward to a bright future that I know TaylorMade Photography will have.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So, my journey with photography has been a smooth road. My close family and friends have been supporting my business. However, I would have more clients if I consistently put myself out there. My recent struggle was learning not to be intimidated by other photographers because I am self-taught. We are all creatives on different journeys. Staying in your lane and thriving there is essential despite how things may look.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a healthcare social worker at a rehabilitation center/nursing home. I advocate for residents, assisting them with their stay in our facility and working closely with healthcare professionals on implementing safe discharge plans while connecting them to resources to promote safety and success while returning to the community. I’m known for my efficient, timely, and peaceful work ethic. I treat my patients and individuals with the utmost dignity and respect. I am most proud of how many lives I have touched and how many lives have touched me. As my 30th birthday approaches, I am reminded that I am set apart from others because being a photographer, social worker, and student of life is my calling; I consistently try to add good to our world. I’m forever grateful for what I have learned and for learning more about being the best servant.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am a board member of my family’s 501 (c) 3, The Dunn Foundation, based in the DMV and LA area. I am proud of our work over the years and even more excited to continue serving the East and West Coast communities. I am also a graduate student at Walden University, pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, Marriage Couple & Family Counseling.
