Conversations with Evi Eden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evi Eden

Hi Evi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey, I’m “Eh-Vee” Eden and I’m another Actor in Los Angeles trying to make a name for herself. I say that like I’m a dime a dozen, but I’m not. I’ve jumped through a lot of hoops and obstacles to get to where I am today. It’s been quite a journey, and I feel like I’ve lived many lives in the process, but I’m proud of my progress and am excited for what’s to come. I’ve always loved the arts, specifically acting, and have known since I was 6 years old that being an artist was my purpose. It’s such a rollercoaster of a career choice, especially with all of the sacrifices that come with it, but I can’t imagine myself pursuing any other path as passionately as I do with acting and the arts. We need art, especially right now. And I’m proud to be a voice of the arts, even if it is a quiet voice in a metaphorical room full of people shouting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A big, FAT bold, underlined, and italicized NO. Being an Actor is not for the weak. You can work your butt off, spend all of your hard earned money to pay for classes/workshops/headshots/ways to make connections, make countless sacrifices, lose all the sleep in the world to get ahead… and gain nothing from it. Sometimes I feel like I’m taking two steps forward, then end up taking three steps back. I’ve had 5 different jobs at once just to keep my head above water, and I’ve made a lot of friends along the way doing that. This town is really about who you know, and you can’t go at this profession alone. I’m thankful for the friends I’ve made along the way to make the struggles worth it, and for the lessons I’ve faced that have taught me the tools to navigate this industry. You have to be sure of yourself, you have to be okay with making mistakes, and you have to be okay with allowing yourself to look dumb. Every day is a new chance to learn, to grow, and to better yourself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
You can see my work at www.aboutevieden.com. I’m a graphic designer, actor, people person, and creative. I specialize in navigating the human experience and bringing artistic expression into everything I do. I’m like a Pokémon, evolving and leveling up my stats, and always ready for my next battle!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
This has been a CRAZY four years. I joined SAG in 2020; The pandemic hit a month after I wrote my first check to the union. And there was no work. I took that time to really focus on my craft and soak up as much knowledge as I could in the age of Clubhouse and endless Zoom workshops. I submitted my “Good Trouble” toilet paper scene to the open call, I did selftape May, I made a lot of online friends, and I got a Manager. Things were looking up by the time Hollywood decided to slowly open again. But things were still shaky. Hollywood was scrambling to make up for lost time and it seemed like everyone was trying their best under the circumstances we had; I worked as a production assistant during this time and to say it was “wild” was an understatement. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every second of it, but I understood why actors were still having a difficult time booking. And BOOM! The the looming IATSE strike happened, then the SAG strike happened…
Trusting in the universe and working hard every day to better myself is what keeps me going. I’m not the same person I was 4 years ago, 1 year ago, or even last week, and who knows who or where I will be tomorrow! There’s excitement in that.
