Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Wiedmann
Hi Eddie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Boston, MA and shortly after graduating college I became a Police Officer in Rhode Island. I thought this was the career I wanted, but after 2 years I couldn’t do it anymore. The job and lifestyle was not aligning with myself and I was not being fulfilled. With no real plan I quit and backpacked Southeast Asia for 3 months before almost dying from a mosquito. I retuned with a new sense of life and desire make some radical changes. The pandemic hit and I knew it was a perfect time to start a new life in San Diego where I eventually started a comedy podcast, creating comedy skits and performing stand up comedy. Present day I am living in Los Angeles still writing and performing stand up comedy, I am a commercial actor/model and doing Improv at the Groundlings School. “I appreciate where I’m at now, but more importantly I appreciate where I’m going.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been a smooth road, but I don’t think life is designed to be a smooth road. You need to really experience hardships and failures to then come out the other side a different person. It’s certainly like that with stand up comedy, the more I “bomb” (don’t have a good set) the more I grow as a comedian and I think that is also true with life. You don’t want things to come easy either, because then it’s not as rewarding when you accomplish something.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am writing and performing stand up comedy all over the country which has been super fun! I am also doing Improv at the Groundlings School. When I’m not doing those things I am a commercial actor/model which is where I make most of my money at the moment. I am most proud of the fact that I am chasing a dream that I didn’t really imagine was possible four plus years ago. I have made many sacrifices in order to carve out the life I want and its slowly paying off for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
A lot of things make me happy, but most importantly is quality time with loved ones, traveling, being outside, going swimming, making people laugh, and living a healthy lifestyle.
