Meet Sarah Selvig of Made Wild Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Selvig

Hi Sarah , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hey! I’m Sarah. Creativity has always been at the core of who I am. I’m always in a constant state of brainstorming, and I have a deep sense of curiosity. I find that asking questions has always gotten me to some really cool places. I was able to commit to the idea of pursuing my dreams fairly young, and I never let the fear of taking the untraditional path get in the way of doing what I loved. I learned how to run a business by the time I was in college, and this allowed me to learn and grow as an entrepreneur and also as a bold creative.

I’ve been a professional photographer for 9 years. I scaled my own photography business in Atlanta, but later threw in the towel and convinced my husband to move to Los Angeles and start a production company together focused on commercial film and photography.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any time you are doing something new, there is so much learning to be done. I am constantly betting on myself and implementing new ideas and business decisions that I am unsure will work out the way I hoped. But through all of the trial and error one thing remains: The opportunity for learning and growth. With every failure, comes the opportunity for a pivot or lesson to be learned and a new success to be made.

Learning to run a business with my spouse has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. To be able to dream together and build something beautiful and meaningful outweighs all of the struggles.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our company “Made Wild Creative is the go-to for lifestyle content creation. Our photo + film work is centered around people. It’s all about capturing, yet elevating, life as it happens. We crave authenticity and meaningful imagery that is quick to grab attention and keep your audience engaged. We handle things like: creative direction, content ideation, film production, photoshoots, and post-production. We work with top brands in the industry like, Chick Fil A, The Ritz Carlton, Google, and Canon. We also created a club on the West side of Los Angeles for the creative community called “Creative Night.” Our mission is to inspire creativity in good company. We’re here to facilitate the creative process, connect people to other LA creatives, prompt people to make things, and keep people accountable to their creative goals. We have many more dreams to grow Made Wild Creative, and also Creative Night in Los Angeles. This is just the beginning!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to those starting out in the creative field would be to first learn about who you are and what your mission is before you read books on “how to scale a 6 figure business.” The truth is we all have the opportunity to create the life that we want, but only some of us believe in ourselves enough to pursue it. Invest in getting to know yourself and trusting that you are capable of more than you know. Understand what you are afraid of, and what you are motivated by. These things will help you understand your “WHY.” and when you have a “WHY” and not just a “WHAT” you do in this life, it gets much more meaningful and much more beautiful.
