Today we’d like to introduce you to Garo Kumruian.
Garo, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My family has been in the jewelry manufacturing business for 30 years. When I was a kid, they would sometimes take me to work with them and show me different parts of the process of creating jewelry. Growing up, I was constantly inspired and eventually, I fell in love with the magic and the beauty of this craft. The knowledge and the inspiration turned into a burning desire. I wanted to express and show what I am capable of to the world. In 2012, I decided to start my own fashion jewelry brand. And Azaggi was born. The name comes from the word “azad”, which means “free” and is also the name of my youngest brother. Since then a lot has changed, but the inspiration and the desire grew even stronger. I try to keep up the good work and to instill these positive feelings and emotions in everyone who is a part of the company. My main goal is to create a positive corporate culture and inspire everyone to develop their talents, get better every day, and give their best for the sake of our common cause – to make the world a little bit more beautiful.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As always, in life, there are some obstacles along the way to success. However, I believe that every problem has a solution. Every struggle we face is a lesson and we try to learn from it. Overall, I feel that we stuck to our core beliefs, we made the right decisions, we learned a lot, and we managed to grasp the opportunities that came along the way.
Please tell us about Azaggi.
Azaggi is a fashion jewelry brand. We try to create beautiful and meaningful products that inspire our customers and make them find the beauty in the little things throughout the day. We keep all of our manufacturing in the heart of Los Angeles, California and we plan to keep it here on the US ground. Forever.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Once, when we had a family reunion, my cousin and I decided to hide from everyone under some boxes in the yard. We stayed there for a couple of hours. We did a great job because they never managed to find us. They even called the police to look for us. At some point, our granny heard something moving under the boxes and they found us. My cousin and I had some fun for sure. The rest didn’t find it so amusing.
